PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES: CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY HOSPITAL
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN MEDICAL CENTER

SETTING:
Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital
Maternal and Child Health Center/Taubman Center.
DESCRIPTION:
Inpatient and/or outpatient youth and their families requiring psychiatric treatment
STUDENT'S ROLE:
Students work in a variety of programs including the Outpatient Behavioral Clinic and the Inpatient School or Activity Therapy Programs. Students help out in the Waiting Room while some members of the family are in counseling, assist teachers in the inpatient classroom and keep patients company.
TRANSPORTATION:

PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Sign up for an interview with the Maternal and Child Services (764-6874) at the first class meeting. Mandatory attendance at Hospital General Orientation (1 hour). Proof of measles/rubella immunization and a negative TB skin test required; immunizations provided by hospital as needed. Further explanation of health screening requirements provided at Information/Orientation Sessions. Three semester commitment to Medical Center requested.
