DESCRIPTION:
A non-medical detoxification center for alcohol and other drugs.
STUDENT'S ROLE:
Assist in a variety of duties to help clients through detox. Take client vital signs every two hours; show recovery videos; read from recovery materials; prepare meals and clean up; transport clients to AA meetings; help clients fill out worksheets; socialize with clients. An opportunity for a lot of direct client contact.
TRANSPORTATION:
Walk; AATA; own vehicle, Outreach vehicle, or bike.
PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Agency offers training for all volunteers. Must abide by the rules and regulations of the agency.
