DESCRIPTION:
The Corner Health Center is a non-profit health care center for anyone 12-21 years old and their children. The Corner provides comprehensive clinical services (including general care, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics and counseling) as well as outreach educational programs. It is affiliated with the University of Michigan Hospital.
STUDENT'S ROLE:
Clinical volunteers help staff members in the clinical setting, which consists of the services mentioned above. General volunteers have a variety of duties including working in The Corner Store (where patients may purchase items with their merit points they receive each time they visit) and putting together information packets for patients. The Corner offers a rare opportunity for volunteers to learn about smaller health care centers and would compliment volunteering in a large hospital.
