DESCRIPTION:
Large residential nursing center for senior citizens in the Ann Arbor/Washtenaw County community.
STUDENT'S ROLE:
Participate in a wide range of activities and functions within the nursing center. Placements are determined based upon volunteer's interests. Opportunities include: resident escort, assisted living aide, dining room meal comparison, activity volunteer, and friendly visitor services. Excellent opportunities for students interested in geriatric medicine, nursing, social work, and occupational and physical therapy.
TRANSPORTATION:
Outreach vehicle (if available), AATA, or own car.
PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS:
No special prerequisites.
TRAINING:
Training provided by the volunteer services office.
TIMES:
Flexible, depending on placement activities. Weekend and evening hours are available.
