ADULT SERVICES: MEDSPORT
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN MEDICAL CENTER

SETTING:
MedSport Clinic
Domino Farms
(near Plymouth and US 23)
DESCRIPTION:
The University of Michigan Center for sports medicine, cardiac programs, and corporate fitness.
STUDENT'S ROLE:
Volunteers work with patients who are in the sports medicine program. Students assist in the training room, and provide support and encouragement to patients in their therapy routines. They are supervised by an athletic trainer.
TRANSPORTATION:
Outreach vehicle (if available), your own car.
PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS:
Three semester commitment requested to Medical Center; additional credit is available for second term of volunteer work. Interest in orthopedics or physical therapy desirable. Sign up for an interview with Adult Services (936-4327) as soon as you have registered for the term and been accepted into the class (preferable); or sign up for an interview at the first class meeting (openings may be limited). Mandatory attendance at Hospital General Orientation (1 hour) and Medsport Training (1 hour). Proof of measles/rubella immunization and a negative TB skin test required; immunizations provided by hospital as needed.
