» joshua tree national park
Besides the tree for which the park is named, there are lots of interesting rock formations in Joshua Tree, making it a very popular place for rock climbing. It is a huge park but there are not a lot of roads so we only saw the stuff that was easy to get to during our day there.

San Jacinto Peak (10,834') from Keys View (5,185'). The valley below is just above sea level and home to the San Andreas Fault, meaning that San Jacinto Peak was moving north at a rate of 2 inches per year as we were moving south.

Typical rock formations that Joshua Tree is known for.

San Gorgonio Mountain (11,499'), the higest peak in Southern California, from Keys View (5,185').

Rock climbers (6 in total).

There are a lot of relics in the park from mining that used to occur in the park. This is an old truck near the Wall Street Mine.
