Sleeping Bear Dunes Area, Michigan

the crystal clear water of lake michigan, which shines bright turquoise in
sandy shallow areas, is always a beautiful sight. we rented kayaks in glen
arbor and got dropped off at a bay on lake michigan, just north of the sleeping
bear dunes bluffs. we thought that we could make it around the point of the bay
to get a look at the bluffs but we were sorely mistaken. the dune at the point
of the bay was three miles away, which we did make it to, but the bluffs were
another three miles beyond that. our arms were about to fall off after we tried
to paddle back in time for our pick-up (we didn't make it).
