Experience

  • January 2008 – Present: Graduate Student Research Assistant (GSRA), Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS), University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. I have been working in Prof. Duncan Steel’s Quantum Optoelectronics Lab and have been involved in nonlinear optical spectroscopy experiments of various nanostructures like III-IV semiconductor quantum dots and carbon nanotubes.
  • July 2007 – August 2007: Internship at Kritikal Solutions, a spin-off from the Computer Science department of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. I was responsible for conducting a feasibility study and simulation for a system that transmits graphical and voice data over an analog phone line.
  • June 2006 – August 2006: Internship at Nsys Inc. I was involved with developing a verification suit in Verilog for the SPI-4 network protocol that is used in OC-192 optical communication schemes.
  • August 2005 – May 2007: Worked on digital system and embedded system design and development at the Center for Electronic Design and Technology (CEDT), University of Delhi, India. I maintain videos, pictures and brief descriptions of projects I worked on during this period on my website.
  • June 2005 – August 2005: Internship at the Digital Hardware Design Lab at the Computer Science Department of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India where I worked on a project titled ‘Door Messaging System’.

Skills

  • Programming experience in C, C++, Java, Assembly Language, Matlab, Mathematica
  • Over two years experience in setting up complex optical experiments, some of which involved working at liquid helium temperatures (4K).
  • Semester long experience in UV lithography, reactive-ion etching and chemical vapor deposition, learnt as part of a graduate course in the Lurie Nanofabrication Facility, UofM.

Relevant Undergraduate Coursework

  • Digital Integrated Circuits I and II, Linear Integrated Circuits, Circuits and Systems, Control Systems I and II,  Microprocessors, Computer Aided Design, Electronics I and II, Analog and Digital Communications

Awards and Achievements

  • Full tuition waver for graduate studies awarded as a GSRA by the EECS department of University of Michigan, Ann Arbor since Jan 2008.
  • Won the “Distinctive Excellence” award at the AVR Design Contest 2006 for designing and developing “Talk Zombie”, an ATMega169 microcontroller based multilingual talking device.
  • Tuition fee waiver from Delhi University for excellent performance in academics for the year 2003-2004.
