Main Research Interests

Laser-cooling and trapping of ground-state atoms, Bose-Einstein condensation, atom interferometry, optical lattices, and applications in quantum information processing. BEC at the University of Michigan

Coherent many-body effects in cold atomic gases that contain interacting Rydberg excitations. Applications of cold Rydberg atoms in spectroscopy, high-precision metrology, and quantum information processing.

Sate-mixing and ionizing collisions in dense, cold Rydberg gases and plasmas. Strongly magnetized Rydberg atoms and plasmas.

Laser spectroscopy of Rydberg atoms in strong electromagnetic fields, quantum chaos, cavity-QED.
