Daeyeon Kim

Personal Information

Biography

He is a graduate student in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at University of Michigan (U of M). He is working with Prof. Dennis Sylvester in the Solid State Electronics Laboratory. He is also working closely with Prof. David Blaauw in the Advanced Computer Architecture Laboratory. His research interest in general is high performance, low power, and process variation tolerant VLSI design. His current main research is robust low voltage memories. In 2010 and 2011, he was a graduate research intern at ARM, Inc. in San Jose, CA under supervision of Dr. Vikas Chandra and Dr. Robert Aitken. He received best paper award as a leading author at 2009 ACM/IEEE International Symposium on Low-Power Electronics and Design (ISLPED). He also won DAC/ISSCC Student Design Contest as a co-author in 2009 and 2011.

Before starting his graduate study at U of M in the Fall 2006, he worked as a software engineer at Nexon Corporation which is one of the largest online-game companies in Korea. From 2003 to 2006, he mainly worked for developing online-software distribution system, instant messaging system, and user management system. More than ten million people have used his product worldwide including Korea, Japan, China and the United States. He received B.S. degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Pohang University of Science and Technology in Pohang, Korea in 2006 with Summa Cum Laude. He graduated from Seoul Science High School (SSHS) in Seoul, Korea in 1999. SSHS is a prestigious institution established by the Korean government for gifted students in mathematics and science.

He is a recipient of Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies Doctoral Study Abroad Fellowship.
