The Public Use Microdata are edited data from the original questionnaires (without people's names or other identifying information. They permit the user to create tables with different variables than those produced by the Census Bureau. There are two separate files:

Public Use Microdata Samples : 1%States and super-PUMAS (areas 400,000)
Public Use Microdata Samples: 5%States and PUMAS (areas of 100,000)
