ABSTRACT
The purpose of this project is to study the evolution of particles under surface diffusion and migration. The analysis of this project considered concurrent kinetics to simulate the change in size of a particle. The analysis shows that any arbitrarily shaped particle tends to shrink in size under the effect of surface diffusion and migration, without considering any applied stress on the particle. The process of evolution depends on the parameters of the surface energy. These parameters affect the final shape that the particle tends to evolve to before it shrink in size. The simulation shows different types of evolution processes by changing the surface energy parameters.
