IEEE Spectrum branding by Teknicks

Sometimes you receive the weirdest things when you maintain your own web pages. For two and a half years, this seems like an automated message but one claiming to be from a real person. I suspected that this is an attempt by some web branding & marketing company to drum up business with IEEE by showing that they have some effect on the web.

However, in early March, 2011, I received a phone call from a person who had found this page and wanted me to remove it. This person claimed to barely remember the project, etc. So, I still think it's an example of some of the worse aspects of marketing and branding, but since I was asked politely, I'll remove the name and personally identifying information.

But I still think that marketing and branding firms are parasites, but just not as bad as banksters and doctors who drum up business by scaring people into doing foolish things (like the doctor who created the whole anti-vaccine craze about mercury in DPT vaccines for children.

the free resources we offer to the public. In addition to the expert-written articles
and in-depth research visitors to the site can now access white papers, blogs,
newsletters, and webinars reflecting the latest developments, standards, and best
practices in engineering.

With a history spanning 125 years, IEEE continues to serve as an authoritative resource
for individuals in the tech sectors of government, industry, and academia worldwide. We
hope you will continue to find value in our site.
