Storytimes

The Library offers a variety of storytimes for many ages. School year and summer schedules may not be the same. Please check for updated information at the beginning of each season (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer).


Tot Storytime

Offered in Fall, Winter and Spring. Storytime for two-year-olds only. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. Older and younger siblings may not attend. In-person registration required. Details for Fall registration available in September.


Summer Drop-In Storytimes

Storytimes for listeners ages 3 & up. No registration is required.

At the Main Library, Youth Department Story Room

                Wednesdays,      6:30-7:00 p.m.

At the Branches


Home Day Care Storytimes

Storytimes for licensed home day care providers and their charges, in the Main Library Youth Department. Registration is required.

          Tuesdays, June 23 through July 28        10:30-11:00 a.m.
          Wednesdays, June 24 through July 29      10:30-11:00 a.m.

Registration begins Monday, June 15. Please call the Youth Department, 327-8301.


Evening Voyages

Traditional storytelling for everyone from 6 to 96! (Children under 6 will not be admitted.)


Bookmobile Storytimes on the Grass

On the grass near the Bookmobile stop. Storytimes are subject to cancellation due to bad weather. All ages welcome; no registration required.


Bookmobile Storytimes at the Branches

The Bookmobile will make a special visit to each branch during Summer Storytimes!

SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Read Up a Storm!

o  Snowed under with work this school year? Tired of troubles pouring down? In the midst of a creative drought?Take matters into your own hands and "Read Up a Storm!" The Ann Arbor District Library has summer reading programs (with prizes!) for all ages, Read-to-Me to adult. We predict a 100% chance of participation!

Summer Kick-Off with "Two of a Kind"

Musical duo "Two of a Kind" presents a family program of songs, stories, movement and more. No registration is required. Families are welcome.

Performances will be held on Monday, June 22:

Origami Fun

Paperfolding projects for the entire family with Don Shall, "The Origami Guy." Supplies provided. Younger participants under 6 years old may need assistance and must be accompanied by adults. Registration is required in person or by telephone. Registration is limited.

String Figure Fun

Cat's cradle and more, with string figure student Marcia Gaynor. Recommended audience: 8 years old and up. Space is limited; registration in person or by telephone is required.

Book Discussion Programs

Reading Reporters

For students entering grades 6 through 8

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. in the Youth Department Story Room

June 23 through July 14

Be a reading reporter. Each week you'll write newspaper articles, editorials, classified ads, and more based on our readings of short stories. All reading and writing will be done during our sessions (no homework!). We'll be doing layout work as we go along, too. Final layout will be done during the last session, which will be two hours long. See your words in print! Enrollment limited. Registration, in person, begins Monday, June 15.

Family Camp-In

Bring a blanket and join the fun at our Family Camp-Ins, featuring participation stories, a sing-along, and more. Light refreshments will be served. Enrollment is limited. You may register in person or by telephone for one of the following events:

Family Movies at the Main Library

No registration required. All performances will be held in Main Library Multi-Purpose Room.

Family Introduction to the Internet

Favorite internet sites are highlighted during this one-hour introduction to the world wide web and the Ann Arbor District Library's home pages for kids and parents. No registration is required.

    Join us for a lively concert of songs, movement and participation featuring Ann Arbor's own Roots & Wings. Families welcome. Registration required.

    Big, beautiful, bouncing bubbles will boggle your mind! Families welcome. Registration required.

    The Strolling Players Present. . . "Dana's Closet"

    Ann Arbor's own student actors present the original play, "Dana's Closet." No registration is required.
