Teacher's page for "Tell a Tale of Motion"

"Tell a tale of motion" gives students a chance to interact with literature, and to publish their interactions on the World Wide Web for the world to see. They will be sharing their work with others in their class, at school, and conceivably throughout the world. For many of our students, posting their work on the Web also gives them a chance to have their parents see their writing along with the writing of other students.

You can do this activity either as a one day activity or you can use it to practice revision skills and spread the activity over several class days. If you do it as a one day activity, the only software students will need to use will be Netscape: They'll have a writing space right on a Web page. Click here to see the page they will use.

If you choose to have students do several revisions, have them do their writing in ClarisWorks. When they have a publishable version they can copy their work (select it with the mouse, then pull down the edit menu and choose "Copy") from ClarisWorks, go to the tale of motion page, and paste (pull down the edit menu and choose "Paste") their work into the Tale of Motion Web page.

If you click on the document icon next to each text title, a ClarisWorks version of the text will appear on your computer's desktop. You can use this to create pencil and paper worksheets or otherwise modify the text for your students' use. Clicking on the story title will take you to the page students will see on the Web.
