Making Art Your Own is an art project with two major components. Students first use the World Wide Web to view paintings from the Louvre, MOMA, and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
The activity meets the following objectives (click on the objective to see it in the context of the overall grade level objectives):
Grade 5 Objectives
- describe different media and what they can produce in art.
- describe possible criteria for judging comparative art works. describe the difference between criticism and critique in the expression of art.
- explore a variety of possibilities within a single medium.
Grade 6 Objectives
- use previously learned art vocabulary and concepts to interpret and understand other art works, both student works and works of recognized artists.
- discuss criteria for judging your own art product
- use and select a variety of materials to create art that express and communicate ideas, experiences, feelings and emotions.
- use a variety of resources and experiences to express an idea for an art work.

- CyberKids Home
- This site is run by a commercial software company, but it has a nice gallery of artwork by kids. There is an email address on the home page which allows students to submit art for publication on their site.
