Whimsy talks with Grayson in Avalon. He agrees to accompany
Whimsy back to Amber to deal with Jack.
Whimsy tries to Trump Fiona...no response, so they Trump to Amber
City and return to Whimsy's quarters.
Whimsy talks to Elaine a bit...gathers what information she
can...learns that Fiona is still gone and also learns the story of what
happened with Vixen and Leto. Elaine agrees to keep Grayson busy while
Whimsy runs some errands. Ishmael interrupts the meeting, knocking down
Whimsy's door. She tells him about Jack, but he remembers an errand and
leaves before they can chat much further.
Outside her rooms, Whimsy Trumps Teresa and pulls her to Amber.
She tells Teresa about Jack and his likely appearance that night at the
ball. Teresa agrees to help.
Whimsy Trumps Nicholas and goes to him. She warns him about
Jack...he suggests a possible solution: Whimsy is to go with Vixen to
locate the Faerie Ward. Whimsy grumbles about having to work with
Vixen...but goes. Nicholas gives her a Trump of Vixen...she Trumps
her...and goes through.
Vixen and Whimsy talk about the plan...Whimsy agrees to use her
magic to help Vixen track the Ward. Vixen Trumps someone for confirmation
first. After Whimsy casts the spell, Vixen thanks her and knocks her out.
When Whimsy awakens with a broken nose, Vixen is long gone.
Whimsy Trumps Ariana, who fixes her nose. They talk about Jack,
Vixen, and Leto. Ariana is angry that Grayson invited Jack, and angry
about Vixen's attempted assassination of Leto and her unborn child.
When Whimsy tries to Trump Nicholas, she finds a package in her
bag...addressed to Nicholas. No doubt Vixen's work. Angry, she Trumps
Nicholas...then walks to his office. She rants about how much she
dislikes Vixen and how she'd just as soon not be assigned to work with her
again. She gives him the package and departs.
Whimsy Trumps Ishmael, who tries to ignore her. She forces him to
pull her through...and they chat further about Jack. He needs money,
which she provides. He also mentions Alexandra...has an attraction for
her. Whimsy sees a wicked possibility and offers to introduce them,
saying nothing of who Alexandra is.
Whimsy goes to the dressmaker, gets her clothes. Goes to her
rooms and has Elaine help her get ready for the ball. Still no word from
Fiona.
At the ball, not much happens though Jack is there. Eventually,
Whimsy and Jack dance and flirt. When the others close in, he pulls
Whimsy through the floor with him, and causes her to lose consciousness.
Whimsy awakens in Faerie to find herself tied up...with none of
her magical devices and her conjuration powers negated. After much
banter, Jack releases her...and shows her the Faerie Circle. He then
returns her to the ball.
Whimsy appears under the table at dinner. Using her conjuration
she creates a distraction and then hops into her chair. Tries to eat and
pretend nothing untoward happened. Dinner is amusing. Whimsy casts no
spells but nevertheless creates much chaos. Her only magic is to conjure
a note on Grayson's plate which warns about how much Mother disapproves of
spellcasting at the table. Ishmael and Alexandra flirt/make complete
asses of themselves...with Whimsy prodding them along. Vixen is
noticeably absent, and Eric keeps giving Whimsy strange looks, which she
ignores. Eventually, Fiona puts a binding spell on Whimsy that prevents
her from using faerie magic (which she wasn't anyway) and puts a silence
spell on Ishmael. Dinner then goes fairly well.
The family adjourns to receive their titles. When Random goes to
escort Whimsy forward, she nearly psychically whammies him, but thinks
better of it. She is announced under both names, and is content.
At the dance afterwards, Whimsy dances with Grayson...who is
delightful to chat with...and also with Ishmael. Whimsy sits to the side,
eventually, and chats with Mirelle about men and things. She eventually
notices her engagement ring...much to her distress.
After getting a dangerous Mirelle completely drunk, Whimsy retires
to her room for a long, hot bath. Jack appears and they chat. He breaks
Fiona's binding and leaves his signature all over it. When Fiona appears,
Whimsy is already out of the tub and drying off. Fiona leaves...Whimsy
follows, wanting to talk. Fiona ignores her and suggests it wait until
the morning.
Whimsy dries off and goes to sleep.

In the morning, Whimsy goes to breakfast with the family, where
Ishmael is kind enough to tell them all that she killed her first husband.
Later, she writes her latest journal entry and works on painting a
rendering of the Faerie Circle, which she saw in Faerie.
