Check

As we rode along, I looked off towards the horizon where there were only the faint outlines of structures against a rainbow sky. brand had warned that Chaos, true to its name, would be a strange experience for us, and there was no denying that; strange creatures scrambled away from our horses along an odd-colored terrain, the sky seemed a painted shell above us, rotating on a strange axis... even the air smelled and tasted funny, as if tinged with something not quite natural.

We'd made our way along the Abyss (not the one I was familiar with, but still..) and had entered a hidden alcove that lead to the sanctuary of the priests of the Serpent -- or at least those who were in opposition to the Emperor. Lardoth, my grandmother's counterpart, sent us to meet another lizard-man named Gavin, to recruit his protege Faust. Gavin happened to have been a friend of my grandfather, and we'd spent some time talking about his untimely death. Again, my esteem of Jenner grows, even after his parting. He seemed to be the foundation upon which much of the action of our parents and grandparents was built upon.

The Font was easily taken care of, though it left both Faust and Mythos in a state of confusion. The application of their powers was enough to shatter the forcefield holding Herald, who fell into the pool and was saved by quick action from Fayne. Herald is in a coma-like state, but my prayers allowed me to find his soul hiding deep within. This may have been the only way he survived the ordeal.

The next move will be tricky. After we recover from the recent ordeals, I can think of no other option but to return to Amber and reveal the truth. Brand might know if Fiona has been weakened enough to depose her. Our best hope is to contain her before she can draw upon the Font again, as there was no way to destroy that artifact. Time will tell.
