Griffin

Upon Meeting Syrana

What I saw thirty-some years ago
Was the plum of the world
Ripe for the taking
I was green as the hills
And didn't give a damn

The only shackles I wore
Were those of my own design
No authority held me home
I had that Spark

Years and miles rolled by
I made and broke the rules
Kicked some ass and had mine beaten
Mapped every last mile of this world
Sang every song
Loved and lost and lost some more

And I lost that greenness
And I lost that bravado
And as the years rolled by
I lost that Spark

Flash forward
To a foreign land
And in a young girl's eyes
I see
That she's as green as the hills
Doesn't give a damn
I see the Spark
