Griffin

Guiltless Pleasure

He was an "accidental" witness
To many an affair
He'd prod and cajole
Advise and console
In the hopes of forging a pair

He was a casual player
At the chessboard of romance
Friends and unknowns
From gutters and thrones
Not leaving their hearts to chance

He was a willing confidant
To a lovesick boy or girl
Arranging and speaking
Scheming and sneaking
No matter; he'll give it a whirl

It's easy to be so flippant
When it's not your heart at stake
All wins and no loss
With nary a cost
It wasn't his heart that would break
