Student Recruiting

Acoustics and fluid mechanics are traditional research areas with long (more than a century) histories. Thus, active research problems in acoustics and fluid mechanics are often challenging and closely coupled to high-priority applications. This means the research success on such topics can be VERY satisfying. I work most successfully with research students who do not fear difficult mathematics, difficult experiments, or both. As of this writing, all my past Ph.D. students are employed in a position of their choosing in industry, government, or academia. I look forward to working with new students who seek a genuine engineering-science research challenge. As current students graduate, one or two new student openings typically occur in my research group each year. Please contact me at drd@umich.edu if you are interested in current opportunities. US citizenship may be preferred or required for some of my current projects.
