Demon Princes and Lords

Im curious as to the difference between Demon Princes and Demon Lords in Horrors. In WotC they're just different titles for the same type of creatures, so I was wondering how horrors was different because in another thread someone mentioned that there was a difference between them.

Yes; you're right that there are differences between them. I'll explain.

While both demon lords and demon princes use the same mechanical 'language' to describe them in that they're both built with the common power rules, demon princes generally have a lot more power than demon lords do. With some exceptions (and in many cases, these exceptions are voluntary) demon princes have enough power to force one or more layers of The Abyss into submission and make them reflections of their own portfolio, which also more tightly defined (again with some exceptions). Demon princes are also usually spellgranting, and have enough tie-in to The Mortal Coil to have dedicated mortal clerics and PrC's that are reflections of mortal faith in them.

Demon lords, in comparison, are incarnations of specific elements of chaotic evil and do have rank. However, they don't typically have clerics that are dedicated to them, and are typically more oriented towards personal corruption although this (of course) is also not universal.

Thanks, I was wondering about that

It's sort of weird that Princes are above Lords considering in mortal goverments it's the exact opposite. Of course, these are chaotic, pure evil Demons, not lawful boring mortals.

Rubbish. A Lord denotes a noble, a Prince denotes a royal in line for the throne.
Does there have to be "official support?" Common sense says that Kain's right. -James Jacobs-

Don't worry, nobody actually puts ranks in knowledge (nobility and royalty).

Lol, thanks. But it is pretty dumb for me to confuse Lord and King.

Never confuse the two. LordCrazyGenius is a no-talent hack and a really obvious troll to boot.
