However, I'm willing to write flavor for commission. Not likely the monetary kind, since most of you schmucks are no doubt as poor as myself and have more important things to spend what little money you have on. No, instead, you will pay for your commission by working.
There is clean up that needs to be done. Clean up that I don't have time for, but would like to get around to doing some day.
At the moment, there are two tasks that folks can do for me, which I would appreciate and write flavor for.
The first is rather simple. Some of the older entities, particularly demon lords (like Baphomet!), still have the old spell-like ability DC, where it lists no individual DCs and just gives you the formula at the end. (Like DC 24 + spell level) Your task, should you choose to accept it, would be to go look up the spells and insert the DCs where appropriate. So that it looks like below. (Taken from Cronus) Remember to include the name of the entity whose block you are doing.
Cronus
Spell-like Abilities: Always active - freedom of movement, see invisibility; At will - augery, bestow curse (DC 34), bless, chain lightning (DC 37), charm monster (DC 35), commune with nature, cure critical wounds (DC 35), fire storm (DC 38), foresight, geas/quest (DC 37), greater dispel magic, greater teleport, hold monster (DC 36), invisibility, levitate, mark of justice (DC 36), mind blank, persistent image (DC 36), polymorph, status, summon monster IX, summon nature's ally IX, true strike, vision, word of chaos (DC 38); 8/day contact other plane, etherealness, gate, greater scrying, maze, meteor swarm (DC 40), planeshift; 4/day - miracle (DC 40), wish (DC 40) Caster level 50th
Note the formatting. If you do it, you need to do it right. The point is to lessen my work load, not add to it. Italicize all the names of spells and only the names of spells, not the DCs. Separate spells with the same use limit with a comma, separate different use limits with a semicolon. Put the caster level at the end. Don't put DCs on the end of all spells, just those that allow a saving throw. Those which have (harmless) as a save descriptor, do NOT put in a save DC. (Even if they work on undead, like cure light wounds) If you don't have access to a spell, you need to look it up and find out via other means than asking me. If you don't know what book a spell is in because I wasn't kind or considerate enough to include an asterisk denoting such, you will have to figure it out via other means than asking me. If a spell has different levels at which it is available....PICK THE HIGHEST LEVEL FOR THE DC. Essentially, you only should contact me with your shiny new spell-like ability list, properly formatted. Which you can post on this thread.
The other task, which is much harder, is converting my clunky old statblock into the new statblock format. All of it. Once it is done, post it here. At the moment, I have no advice on how to best format the new block. However, I may develop some guidelines based on what I see...once I do so, future statblocking will require those guidelines to be implemented.
Now, that's what you can do for me. What I will do in return for you is the following.
SLA: write a paragraph of flavor (roughly 2-7 sentences) detailing a character of your choosing, as I envision them fitting into my AW.
New Stat Block: Write a paragraph of flavor and include links to any web information available for the character, as well as sourcebooks or magazines. For 5 characters of your choosing. (You can double up on a character to get two or more paragraphs on a single character, if you desire.)
Check, cash or Paypal deposit: Will write for one hour on a subject of your choosing for every 10 American dollars of value once the money is deposited in my bank account. Subject need not be remotely related to Alternate World. (This particular offer ends after September 1st, as I will have already paid or forfeited my rent by then.)
Now, to make the most of your payment, don't choose iconic mortalborn characters like Driz'zt, Soth or Elminster for me to write flavor about. It isn't going to change. Choose a cosmic entity, or a character you can't find in a Wikipedia search. I have no problem writing a paragraph of Soth flavor, but you won't be getting much original material there. Another Freak's avatar is also probably a poor choice, as I won't be drastically changing much if any of their history. But, it is your "money", you can spend it how you want to. If you really want a paragraph on Lord Kandis, feel free to request it.
Although I may well get to your requests quicker, give me at least a week from the time that your work is posted here. While I doubt this will generate a flood of work being done, if it does I will process your requests in the order that I receive them. (Other than the cold hard cash folks, whose work will be first in line.)
First come first serve...if someone posts Baphomet's reformatted SLAs, no one else can post it later. It is on you not to waste your time, so check. However, if someone posts Baphomet's new statblock, nothing prevents someone from also posting the reformatted SLAs. Just to let you know.
So that's that. Do the job. Post it here. Get paid in flavor text.
