US-Born MLB Players Cartograms
Using cartograms I map the birthplaces of MLB players over five time periods. The cartograms show the south and westward movement of player-producing regions over time; the paucity of players from the intermountain west; and the huge number of players from California, Florida and Texas in recent years.— Mar. 22, 2011 (more)
Bears’ QB Tweets
During the NFC Champonship Game the Bears went through a quick progression of three quarterbacks, with one lasting just seven plays. I wanted to see how this played out on Twitter. Here I plot the number of tweets per minute with each of the three QBs’ names over the course of the game, and give a random tweet at times of peak traffic. — Jan. 24, 2011 (more)

An interactive graph showing the network of follows between twitter accounts of members of 111th Congress. More Republicans have accounts and they are much more connected (likely to follow one another) than Democrats, this seems to be particularly true of the most conservative Republicans. — Dec. 16, 2010 (more)
