Jean Dupuy arrived in New York City from Jamaica.
The British occupied Philadelphia, and Daniel Dupuy moved his family to Reading, PA.
During the Revolution, inflation was high and riots broke out in Philadelphia in protest of the high prices. These riots were put down by the city's "silk stocking brigade," of which John Dupuy was a part. In the 18th century, many cities had local regiments known by similar nicknames, in reference to the refined footwear of the wealthy members who made up their numbers. "he escorted the shipment of specie from Canada for the colonial government."
The religious revival known as the Second Great Awakening began in New England.

Charles Meredith Dupuy (1) was ordained as a minister in the Episcopal church.

THD: Haskins Dupuy was a civil engineer and manager of several railroads, including Pennsylvania Canal Co., Pittsburg, Fort Wayne, and Chicago Railroad, and Mobile and Ohio Railroad.

CMD: He was a civil engineer in the project to enlarge the Delaware and Hudson Canal. One of his outstanding achievements was organizing the Land Department of the Illinois Central Railroad, a system that was adopted by all other land grant railroads. In 1871, he also promoted the development of a railroad between Philadelphia and New York which was known as the National Railroad. He helped push the development of "direct iron" to be used in the production of fine steel, and wrote a number of articles about industrial workers and activities.

HAD fought in the Civil War.
