Welcome to the "Harpsichord and Clavichord" WebRing

Maintained by Bradley Lehman, bpl@umich.edu

This is a group of web sites about harpsichords, clavichords, and similar stringed keyboard instruments before the modern piano. Member sites may be about the instruments, players, builders, repertoire, recordings, etc.

Participation and listing are free of charge; any relevant site approved by the maintainer is welcome in the ring.

Why join? Because it gives better exposure to your web site!

Joining the ring

There are several steps to this process:

  1. Go to the WebRing hub for this ring and press the "Join This Ring" button there.

  2. Enter a description of your site and everything else it asks for.

  3. Read the e-mail confirmation that comes back to you. It gives you a link to another page at Yahoo that tells you how to get your navigation bar.

  4. A WebRing navigation bar must be added to the first page of your site. That is the part that lets visitors move from one site to another in the ring.

  5. Copy the HTML code that they provide and paste it into your page. Remember, this must be the front page of your site, not a secondary page of links (annoying, but I didn't invent the rules...). That code looks something like this, but yours will vary:
    <script language=javascript src="http://ss.webring.yahoo.com/navbar?f=j&y=hothpschd&u=98512993910018341"></script>

  6. Test your page to be sure the navigation goes to the ring.

  7. Notify me at bpl@umich.edu so I can do the final verification of your site and navigation.

What if you've lost the Yahoo confirmation e-mail?

The old-style WebRing navigation (from before the Yahoo assimilation) still works. To install it, do the following:
  1. Go to the Yahoo hub for this ring and find your own entry.

  2. Hold your mouse cursor over your link but do not click.

  3. The status bar at the bottom of your browser window should show an address including your ID number ("ring=hpsiclavi&id=##&go"). Note your ID number. You will need it for the next step.

  4. Copy the HTML navigation shown below and paste it to the bottom of your first page.

  5. Change it to include the correct ID number (instead of using "id=2").

  6. Test your page to be sure the navigation goes to the ring.

  7. Notify me at bpl@umich.edu so I can do the final verification of your site and navigation.
