Announcements and Updates

October 21
Check out a brief history of the Civil Rights Movement, also called the Black Freedom Movement, at Africana.com. Focus on the third and fourth pages. Also at Africana.com, read about Black Power in the United States, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). Our course Photogallery has been updated to include biographical links of many of the people we are reading in the coming weeks. Check it out!

November 14
After our visit to Labadie, a few people asked what Phyllis Schlafly and her Eagle Forum are up to now. (Schlafly, as you will find out in the coming weeks, was a leader in the anti-ERA campaign.) She and the Eagle Forum are still active, and their website is updated daily. The URL is http://www.eagleforum.org. Also, the URL for NOW (the National Organization for Women) is http://www.now.org and the URL for the Feminist Majority Foundation is http://www.feminist.org.
