Today, our first full day in England, we took a full-day Evan Evans tour to Oxford, Stratford-Upon-Avon, and The Cotwolds. We were very impressed with Evan Evans tour, which offered a comprehensive courtesy coach pick-up service from our hotel.  Our coach was an air-conditioned highdeck bus that provided an unobstructed view through panoramic windows.  Our guide was professional and very knowledgeable guide.

Oxford

We journeyed through the Thames Valley to Oxford, whose origins go back 1000 years and whose streets are framed by the stone walls of the colleges. Our tour took us though some of the university buildings where we were told of famous past students (e.g., Hug Grant) and age old traditions of college life that endure to this day.

Stratford-upon-Avon

Stratford-Upon-Avon

Although famous as Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford is a charming market town in its own right.

Mellowed buildings, many half timbered, line broad streets.

Shakespeare's Birthplace

Anne Hathaway's Cottage

Nancy standing in front of this world-famous building, surrounded by an old-fashioned garden and orchard, which was the early home of Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway.

The Enchanting Cotwolds

No area in Britain is more beautiful and enchanting than the Cotwolds. Our tour took us through the villages of Mickleton, Chipping Camden, and the pretty hamlet of Moreton in Marsh.

The Cotswolds

Our tour  included a visit to this charming village, which is noted for its many thatched roofs, where Alan took a stroll.
