Research Notes:

Some researchers have named this Richard Schooley, father of Anthony Schooley and Alice Hodgson, as the father of John Scholey (1609-1695) [6], who married Elizabeth Fletcher. We seek documentation to support such a relationship. See also John Scholey [7], son of Thomas Schooley and Mercy Flore.

Some researchers have named this Richard Schooley, father of Anthony Schooley and Alice Hodgson, as the son of Richard Scholey [8], whose estate was contested in 1592 by Richard Schooley and widow, Amy Schooley.

Richard Schooley's residence was reportedly at Easton-on-the-Hill, in the Barony of Stamford, near the city of Stamford. [9]

1559 Richard Schooley was born the son of Richard Schooley at Cadwell in Bedfordshire, England, about one mile west of Bedford on the River Ouse at the priory of the Order of the Holy Cross [10]. Richard's birth is also reported at Easton-on-Hill, Northamptonshire, England and his burial at St. Martins, Stamford Baron, Northamptonshire, England.

1614-15 The will of John Flower the elder of Methley named widow Mercye Scoley and her sons John and Robert Scholey, Methley Register, Yorkshire. [11]

1620 Mercy Scholey, widow, (was buried) the xxviijth thereof (April), Methley Register, Yorkshire. [12]

1679 John Flower, yeoman, 28, Conisbrough, and Elizabeth Scholey, spinster, 21, were married at Armthorpe - either place. [13]

An oral tradition named Mary Abdey as the spouse of Richard Scholey.

1635 The will of Richard Scoley, yeoman of Cold Skindley was recorded in the May packet of the York Registry. Dated April 10, 10 Charles I. [14]
