1793 Martin Wigle, single man was taxed in Dover Twp, York County. Father Jacob Weigle was a collector. [3]

Martin Weichel and Anna Barbara Blasser were married. [4]

1797 Martin Wigle (weaver) was taxed in Dover Twp, York County. [7]

1798-1800 Documents for Martin Weigle were recorded in both Dover Twp, York County and in East Pennsborough Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Martin moved to East Pennsborough, Cumberland but owned and paid taxes on land near his family in Dover, York during this time.

1798 Martin Weigle was named on the Direct Tax list with a house and stable in Dover Twp. [8]

1798 Martin Wikel was named on the Direct Tax list in East Pennsborough Twp, Cumberland County. George Hawk was listed adjacent. [9]

1799 Martin Weickel was taxed in Dover Twp, York County. [10]

1799 Martin Wikle was taxed with 12 acres in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County. [11]

1800 Martin Weigle was taxed with land but no trade in Weiglestown with a note "in Cumberland". [12]

1800 Martin Wikle was listed on the septennial census in 1800 in East Pennsboro Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [13]

1802 Martin Weigle was taxed for 12 acres in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County. [14]

1805 Martin Wikle was taxed with 12 acres in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County. [15]

1808 Martin Wikle was taxed with 12 acres in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County. [16]

1810 Martin Wigle lived in East Pennsboro, Cumberland County in a household with males: 2 (under 10), 2 (10 thru 15), and 1 (26 thru 44); and females: 1 (under 10), 1 (10 thru 15), and 1 (26 thru 44). [17]

1810 Two deeds described the division of land from the estate of Jacob Weigle, the Elder, deceased, late of Dover Twp, York County, Pennsylvania among his heirs: Henry Weigle, Margaret Weigle married to Godfrey Kleindienst, Jacob Weigle, Martin Weigle, Peter Weigle, George Weigle, Michael Weigle, and David Weigle who sold their shares to John Weigle farmer of Weiglestown, all sons and one daughter of Jacob, deceased. The land was on both the north and south sides of the great road leading through Weiglestown from York to Carlisle, adjoining lands of Alexander Underwood, Michael Bentz, Baltzer Hamm, Henry Whitmer, George Leckron, John Shrom, and others. Jacob died intestate and left a widow and the heirs named above. Lots in Weiglestown were released to Peter, Jacob, Martin, Margaret the widow, Michael, David, and George. Thus, in 1810 Martin still had land in Dover Twp, although he lived in Cumberland County. Dated March 31. All signed the deed except widow Margaret. [18] The next deed was a release of land in Springetsbury Manor, by John R Coates and wife Sarah, to John Weigle. [19] [20]

Henry Weigel, Margaret Weigel intermarried with Godfry Kleindinst, Jacob Weigel, Martin Weigel, Peter Weigel, George Weigel, Michael Weigel and David Weigel, sons and only one daughter, all heirs and legal representatives of Jacob Weigel the elder, late of the Township of Dover in the County of York and State of Pennsylvania Yeoman, deceased ? for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand eight hundred and five pounds in real gold or silver money current in Pennsylvania to them in hand paid by John Weigel of Weigels Town in the Township of Dover and County of York aforesaid, farmer, also one of the sons and legal representatives of the above named Jacob Weigel the elder deceased ? all of the estate and estates, shares, purports and dividends right title and interest property claim or demand whatsoever of them the heirs respectively abovementioned in law or equity or otherwise howsoever of in to or out of all that messuage or tenement plantation and tract or piece of land situate lying and being part on the North side and part on the South side of the Great Road leading through Weigel's Town from York to Carlisle in the townships of Dover and Manchester in the County of York aforesaid in the actual possession and (illegible) of the said John Weigel now being adjoining the lands now of Alexander Underwood, Michael Bentz, Baltzer Hamm, Henry Whitmer, George Leckron, John Shrom and others Containing one hundred and sixty two acres twenty seven perches and allowance Being the same tract of land the right and title to which by sundry means conveyances releases and other good assurances in the law duly had and executed became lawfully and rightly vested in Jacob Weigel the elder above named who died intestate leaving a widow and the children above named lawful issue to survive him ? granted by deeds of release lot number one to Peter Weigle, number two to Jacob Weigel, number three to Martin Weigel, number five to Margaret Weigel, the widow, number six to Michael Weigel, number seven to David Weigel and number eight to George Weigel containing together in all five acres neat measure ? Witness: John Forsyth, Peter Spangler, Jacob Spangler. Proved by the makers on 31 March 1810. Recorded 11 April 1817. [21]

1820 Martin Wigle lived in East Pennsboro Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 10), 1 (10 thru 15), 1 (16 thru 18), 1 (16 thru 25), and 1 (45 and over); and females: 2 (under 10), 1 (16 thru 25), and 1 (45 and over). [22] Two adjacent listings are for George Cephart (see 1830 census record for Barbara).

1811-1829 Martin Weikle was taxed in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County. In 1829 he was a weaver with 33 acres of land. [23] [24] [25] [26] [27] [28] [29]

1830 Barbara Witel lived in East Pennsboro Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (15 thru 19) and 2 (20 thru 29); and females: 1 (10 thru 14) and 1 (60 thru 69). [30] Two adjacent listings are for George Keppord (see 1820 census record for Martin).

1832 Christian Blasser's will was proved on June 30 in Seneca County, New York. The will named daughter Barbara Weikell, widow of Martin Weikell deceased of Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [31]

1831-33 Martin Weikle (heirs, perhaps) was taxed with 30 (12) acres in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County. [32] Daniel and John Weikle were listed as freemen. [33]

1835 Daniel Wygle and John Wigle were taxed in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County. [34]

1836 Land was sold in East Pennsboro Twp, Cumberland County, adjacent to lands of Mrs Weigle and John Blessly. Note that Elizabeth Blessly was listed near Barbara and son John Weigle in the 1840 census. [35]

1838 John (laborer) and Daniel (weaver) Weigle were taxed in East Pennsborough, Cumberland County. [36] Solomon Weigle was taxed as a freeman. [37]

1840 Barbara Wiegle lived in East Pennsboro Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (under 5), 1 (20 thru 29), and 1 (30 thru 39); and females: 1 (5 thru 9), 1 (20 thru 29), and 1 (70 thru 79). [38] John Weigle (age 30-40) was listed on the same page.

John Wikel was a farmer. [39]

1860 John Wigle (age 55, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Macon County, Illinois, in a household with Mary Wigle (age 51), Loma Wigle (age 25), Samuel Wigle (age 22), Elizabeth Wigle (age 16), Henry Wigle (age 19), and Rebecca Wigle (age 14). John Wigle was a farmer. [40]

1870 John Wikle? (age 70, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Hickory Point, Macon County, Illinois, in a household with Mary Wikle (age 65), and Adie Cox (age 8). [41]

1879 John Weigle died on September 28 and was buried at Boiling Springs Cemetery, Macon County, Illinois. John Weigle was born on March 21, 1805. [42] [43]

1850 Daniel Weikel (age 47, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Hampden, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Mary M Weikel (age 34), Martin Weikel (age 13), Solomon Weikel (age 10), and Henry Weikel (age 7). Daniel Weikel was a weaver. [44]

1860 Danl Wikle (age 58, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Macon County, Illinois, in a household with Martha Wikle (age 45), Martin Wikle (age 23), Solomon Wikle (age 19), and Henry Wikle (age 16). Danl Wikle was a farmer. [45]

1870 Danial Wykel (age 60?, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Hickory Point, Macon County, Illinois, in a household with Mary Wykel (age 54), Solomon Wykel (age 29), Henry Wykel (age 33), and Almira Wykel (age 19). Danial Wykel was a farmer. [46]

1880 David Weikel (age 78, born in Pennsylvania, married) lived in Hickory Point, Macon County, Illinois, in a household with Mary Weikel (age 64), Solomon Weikel (age 40), Henry D. Weikel (age 37), Elmira J. Weikel (age 29), Agness Weikel (age 10), and Edward Weikel (age 7). David Weikel's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. David Weikel was a farmer. [47]

1885 Daniel David Weikel died on January 24 and was buried at Boiling Springs Cemetery, Macon County, Illinois. Daniel David Weikel was born on October 16, 1802. [48] [49]

1905 Land from the estate of Daniel Weigel, which Daniel had purchased by deed dated 1864, passed to 3 sons, Henry D., Martin, and Solomon. The land was subject to a court case "Weigel v. Green" in the Supreme Court of Illinois. [50]

1846 Solomon Weigle and Caroline Hinkle were married on November 8 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [51]

1850 Solomon Wikel (age 34, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Macon Twp, Macon County, Illinois, in a household with Caroline Wikel (age 21), Daniel Wikel (age 3), Henry Wikel (age 2), and Mary C Wikel (age 0). Solomon Wikel was a farmer. [52]

1860 Solomon Wigle (age 67, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Macon County, Illinois, in a household with Caroline Wigle (age 32), Daniel Wigle (age 12), Henry Wigle (age 11), Mary Wigle (age 10), Barbara Wigle (age 8), John Wigle (age 7), Nancy Wigle (age 5), Martha Wigle (age 4), and Frank Wigle (age 1). [53]

1864 Solomon Weigel died on March 4 and was buried at Boiling Springs Cemetery, Macon County, Illinois. Solomon Weigel was born on July 3, 1813. [54] [55]

A biosketch of Daniel S Weigel, son of Solomon, reports [56]:

The Weigel family are among the old settlers of Hickory Point township. Solomon Weigel, the father of Daniel S. Weigel, was born in Cumberland county, Pennsylvania, on the third of July 1813. He married Caroline Hinkel, who was born in the same county on the third of November, 1828. In June, 1849, the family emigrated to Macon county, Illinois, and in the fall settled on eighty acres of school land in section sixteen of Hickory Point township, which Solomon Weigel had purchased while on a visit to the state several years previous. At the time the family located here it was the furthest settlement out on the prairie. Due North, there was no house until Salt Creek was reached. Solomon Weigel died on the fourth of March, 1864. His wife, Caroline, departed this life on the thirteenth of October, 1868. They were parents of twelve children, whose names are as follows: Daniel S. Weigel ; Henry S. Weigel ; Mary C. Thompson ; Simon Weigel, deceased ; Barbara E Gepord; John F. Weigel ; Nancy A. Schroll ; Martha J. Reed; Martin V. Weigel ; Solomon R. Weigel; Caroline Weigel deceased ; and Carrie E. Weigel.

Daniel S. Weigel, the oldest child, was born in Cumberland county, Pennsylvania, on the tenth of August, 1847. He was two years old when his father moved to this county. He attended the common schools in Hickory Point township, and went one term to the State Normal School. He learned the carpenter's trade, at which he has been engaged a portion of his time. For the last three years he has been living on the old homestead farm. He is a member of the Church of God, with which he has been connected about fifteen years. He is a regularly licensed minister of that denomination ; during the last five years has preached frequently and is now pastor of the Fairview circuit.
