1582 Arthur Sare of the parish of St George in the city of Canterbury wrote his will on July 2. [1]

In the name of god amen This is the laste will of me Arthure Sare bacheler of the paryshe of St Georges within the Cytty of Canterbury & at this present tyme beinge at my brother Nycholas Sares of the paryshe of St John the Baptyste in Margate within the Isle of Thannet in ye county of kent beinge sycke in body & very weake but in good remembraunce gevinge almighty god all harty thankes therefore do forthwith make my laste will & Testament as Followethe & I doe revoke all former wylles yt I have caused to be writen & doe them dysanull & have caused this my laste will & testament of my movable goodes tenements & landes to be made & writen ye second daye of July In the yeare of our lorde god one thousande five hundered fower score & two Fyrste I bequeathe my soule vnto almighty god my maker mercifull savior & redemer & body to be buried in the churche yard of St Johns aforesaide Item I geue to the pore of that paryshe forthe with at my buriall xxs & tenne shillinges in breade to be geven by my executor Item I geue to goodman lucas of the paryshe of St Andros within the Cytty of Canterbury fyve shillinges Item I geue vnto the woman yt teandes me named Hyllardes wyddow xs Item I geue my brother Nicholas Sare xli Item I geue to Joane Sare my brother Nycholas Sares wyfe abras pot achafingedyshe achest & my cupbord beinge at Mr Gooddewes in the paryshe of St Georges in Canterbury Item I geue to goodwyfe nutt dewelling in St telfies(?) paryshe in Cant vs Item I geue to mother Dounye in Cant vs dwellinge in the paryshe of St Georges Item I geue to my brother Stephan Sare iij li Item Item to my brother William Sare vli & my mare & coulte & my colt cloke Item I geue my Vncle John Myles of the paryshe of St Paules without ye wales of the cytty of Cant xls Item I geue to Ame ye wife of John mylls ij peuter dyshes Item I geue to Thomas Houden my brother in lawe in the paryshe of St Andrewes within the cytty of Cant xls Item I geve to Thomas Longe my kynsman of the paryshe of St Andrewes within ye Cytye of Canterbury wollen Draper xls allwaies provided yt all manner of necessary charges muste arise out of ye legacyes & to be deducted out of my iij brothers portions in this my wyll to them geven yt ys as muche to saye Nycholas Stephan & William Item I geue to Thomas Sare & Elizabeth Sare my brother Nycholas Childeren xxs apece, & allwayes provided yt my executor shall reteane my deabtes to paye my legaciyes as is aforegeven
This ys the laste will & testament of me Arthure Sare of the paryshe aforesaide of all my landes & tenements In the paryshe of St George & St Paules within ye lybertyes of Canterbury or els where wch before rehersed I geue vnto my brother William Sare my yonger brother as sone as the breathe is out of my body to him & to his heires lafully begotten of his body forever provided & yt ys my trew meaninge yf my brother William doe dye without yssewe of his bodye lawfully begotten yt shall remaine to my ij brothers Nycholas & Stephan Sare by even portions for ever & I ordaine & make my kynsman Thomas Longe of St Andrewes within the cyty of Canterbury my whole executor & John Mylles my vncle of St Pales within the lybertyes of Canterbury my over sear of this my laste will & testament & here vnot I Arthure Sare have sette my hand & seale Dated ye daye & yeare aboue writen In ye presentes of the writer hereof Frauncis Levyndale John Mapells Robert Curlynge wytnesses hereof this my last will & testament names & above writen

1582 The will of Arthur Sare was proved on July 17 in the Archdeaconry Court of Canterbury. [2]
