Notes for John Cohran

These notes for John Cohran of Rutherford County are part of our research of collateral Cochran lines of Nancy Cochran [1], spouse of Isaiah Pickett (an ancestor of Robert Wolfe). We do not how, or if, John might be related to Nancy Cochran Pickett. These notes are included here to give access and to allow Ancestry.com to identify possible DNA matches with Robert.

1830 John Coran lived in Meriwether County, Georgia in a household with free white males: 1 (5 thru 9), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (40 thru 49); and free white females: 2 (Under 5), 2 (10 thru 14), and 1 (40 thru 49); and 1 enslaved person. [2]

1850 Nancy Charon and Samuel T Ward were married on October 21 in Paulding County, Georgia. [3]

1850 John Coran (age 59, born in Georgia) lived in Militia District 951, Paulding County, Georgia, in a household with Nancy Coran (58), Cinthy T Coran (33), and Joseph R Coran (16). John Coran was a farmer. Guilford Coran was listed adjacent. [4]

1860 J Cochorn (age 69, born in Georgia) lived in District 839, Paulding County, Georgia, in a household with Nancy Cochorn (68), Cynthia Cochorn (44), Frances Cochorn (18), Elisabeth Cochorn (17), and Wm Cochorn (14). J Cochorn was a farmer. [5]

1868-1870 Nancy Cohron (perhaps the widow of John Cohron) was taxed in Paulding County, Georgia. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]

1870 Nancy Cochran (age 70, born in South Carolina) lived in Winphrey and Wedingtons District, Paulding County, Georgia, in a household with Syntha Cochran (55). Nancy Cochran's occupation was keeping house. [11]

1880 Cinthia Choron (age 65, born in Georgia, single), sister-in-law, lived in Cherokee County, Alabama, in a household with Samuel F. Ward (60), Nancy Ward (61), Mary Ward (19), John Choron (27), Hiram Baker (23), Lourania Baker (22), and Buennavista Baker (11/12). Cinthia Choron's father was born in South Carolina and her mother was born in Virginia. [12]

Research Notes:

Perhaps Cynthia Cohron and Nancy Cohron Ward were daughters of John and Nancy Cohron.

Son John Cochran (1824-) and Elisabeth (1825-) of Paulding County, Georgia were the parents of daughter Martha Louise Mollie Cochran. [13]
