Research Notes:

The 1894 marriage of daughter Anthus Allen [Young] to Reuben Wilson names her parents as Charles B. Allen and May Cockrum. We seek further information about the marriage of Charles B. Allen and May Cockrum. Although we have no direct evidence of a relationship, we show her as a sibling of Nancy Cochran based on geographic proximity, date of birth, and multiple DNA matches. In addition, other likely Cochran relatives interacted with the Allen family.
Charles
Charles B Allen could be the heir of John W. Allen named in the 1832 deed below. John W Allen had purchased some of the land from Charles Allen in 1797.

[47] Charles Benson Allen was age 21 at this time. Ephraim Jackson, Marvill Mills, and James McKinney were all listed on the next page of the census. Ambrose Mills was on the prior page.

1824 John W Allen purchased a tract of land from Andrew Hamilton. [52]

1825 John W Allen was granted 45 acres pf land by the state of North Carolina. The tract was on Green River. [53]

1832 The heirs of John W. Allen sold land to William Tabor. The heirs were Charles Allen, Solomon and Elizabeth Tabor, Mary Felise(Hise/Hix?), Thomas & Susannah Wall, William Rucker and Sarah Rucker. The land was in 7 tracts comprising 560 acres on the waters of W.O. (White Oak?). Tract 1 of 280 acres included John Nicholas's folly and was adjacent to land of Martin Edwards. Tract 2 was 85 acres on the north fork of White Oak being part of a 100 acre tract previously granted to John Fisher. Tract 3 was 13 acres, part of 50 acres granted to Thomas Tabor in 1795. Tract 4 was 65 acres being part of 100 acres granted to John Fisher in 1807, adjacent to lands of Tabor and of McCluskin and of Luke Waldorf.
