1850 Eliza Sherer (age 34) lived in Reading South West Ward, Berks County, Pennsylvania, in a household with William Sherer (age 38), Henry N Sherer (age 10), and Amelia Sherer (age 5). [2]

1860 William Shearer (age 50, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Reading, South West Ward, Berks County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Eliza Shearer (age 42), Henry A Shearer (age 19), Susan Shearer (age 17), Amelia A Shearer (age 14), and Edwin R Shearer (age 4). William Shearer's occupation was cedar cooper. [3]

1870 Eliza Scherer (age 52, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Reading Ward 6, Berks County, Pennsylvania, in a household with William Scherer (age 61), Henry A Scherer (age 26), Susan V Scherer (age 24), Amelia A Scherer (age 21), Edwin R Scherer (age 14), Laura V Danison (age 11), and Connone Dunison (age 9). 1880 Elizabeth Sherer (age 64, born in Pennsylvania, widowed) lived in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Henry Sherer (age 37), Susan Sherer (age 35), and Alice A. Sherer (age 30). Elizabeth Sherer's parents were both born in Pennsylvania. [6]

1894 Eliza Scherer died on November 15 at age 80 and was buried at Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. [7]

Mrs. Eliza, widow of Wm. Shearer, died of heart failure and dropsy at her residence at South 4th, at 7:20 p.m., in her 80th year. Deceased was a daughter of the late Peter and Sarah ?ner, and was born in this city. She was a member of memorial M.E. Church. Deceased was ailing since last Christmas. Four children, Harry A., [Sus]an V., N. Alice and Edwin R., all ?ing at home, 3 sisters, Mrs. Barbara A. Wesener, of Brooklyn; Mrs. Catharine M Sawson and Mrs. Annetta ?ennison of Phila., and 5 grandchildren survive.

1911 Susan V Scherer died on 11 Sep 1911 and was buried at Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Susan V Scherer was born on February 12, 1845. [8]

Schearer died of a complication of diseases, at 10:30 pm Monday, at her residence, 1345 Walnut Street, aged 66 years and 7 months. She was ailing for three years and confined to bed for seven weeks. Deceased was a daughter of William and Eliza (nee Ritner) Schearer, both deceased, and was born and reared in this city. A brother, Edwin R., and a sister, Alice A., are the sole survivors. Deceased was a member of the First Christian Church.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral, without further notice, from her late residence, 13145 Walnut street on Friday at 2:30 pm Services at the house. Internment in Charles Evans Cemetery.

1909 Henry A Scherer, son of Wm Scherer and Eliza Rittner, died on July 27, 1909, at age 66, in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Henry A Scherer was born on October 2, 1842, in Pennsylvania. [9]

1917 Amelia A Scherer, daughter of Wm Scherer and Eliza Ritner, died on May 7, 1917, at age 69, in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Armelia A Scherer was born on December 24, 1847, in Reading, Pennsylvania. [10]

1937 Edwin R Scherer, son of William Scherer and Eliza Ritner, spouse of Kate Schoedler, died on July 12, 1937, at age 81, in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Edwin R Scherer was born on May 2, 1856, in Reading, Pennsylvania. [11]

Research Notes:

Eliza Scherer was a daughter of Joseph Ritner, according to estate records of George Ritner, but was named as daughter of Peter and Sarah Ritner in her obituary.
