Notes for Bernard Wolf

1756 Land from the estate of George Michael Wolf, who died intestate with 9 children, was valued and granted to eldest son Gorge Michael Wolf. The 200 acre tract was in Earl Twp. Guardians were assigned for the children of George Michael Wolf, deceased, of Earl Twp, Lancaster County. Conrad Wolf chose Jeremiah Wolf as guardian. Bernard Wolf chose Wendel Lewteger. Wendel Letwiger and Joseph Rutter were appointed as guardians for Henry Wolf, Anna Mary Wolf, Abraham Wolf, and Susannah Wolf. Dated March 2 at the Lancaster County Orphans Court. [1]

1756 Bernard Wolf, of the Borough of Lancaster, wrote his will, dated November 2, 1756. The will named Jeremiah Wolf and John George Wolf (1 shilling each), friend Friedrick Feldberger, brother in law Lorantz Hooft and George Michael Wolfes his childrens and George Kinder deceas'd his three daughters ... The will was proved on November 6, 1756. [2] It is plausible that this was the will of uncle Bernard Wolf (1701-1756) who named his siblings and the children of his brother George Michael Wolf in this will.

1761 Bernart Wolff and Ursula Kienzer were married at Trinity Lutheran, Lancaster County on March 10. [3]

1766 A survey was made for Jacob Wolf and Barnard Wolf and George Rein, dated August 22, for land in Earl Twp, Lancaster County that had been warranted by George Michael Wolf on March 21, 1738/39. George Michael Wolf, the warrantee, had died intestate and eldest son George Michael Wolf had granted the land to his brothers Joseph, Jacob, and Bernard. Joseph had sold his share to George Rein. 1766 Jacob Wolf received a warrant for a resurvey of 118 acres of land in Earl Twp, Lancaster County dated August 22. [5] Three surveys, dated October 28, were made out of the lands late of George Michael Wolf in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. The surveys were for Jacob Wolff, Bernard Woolf, and George Rein. George Rein had purchased the land from Joseph Wolff. The tracts were on Conestoga Creek. Nearby landowners included Michael McCleary, John Bowman, George Rein, and George Yunll [Yound?]. 1767 Jacob Wolf, Bernard Wolf, and Jacob Rein received a patent for the land in 1767. The land was originally warranted by George Michael Wolf on March 1, 1738/39. The land was inherited by George Michael Wolf, eldest son, who transferred the land to his three brothers Joseph, Jacob, and Bernard by deed dated in 1759. Joseph sold his share to George Rein. The tract of 118 acres was called Wolfsburg on Conestoga Creek by lands of George Yount, Michael McCleary, [9]

1767 Bernard Wolf received a patent [AA8-280] for land in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. Patent dated April 23. The warrant to Jacob Wolf was dated in 1766. The tract was named "Hanover" [10]

1767 Jacob Wolf received a patent [AA8-278] for land in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. Patent dated April 23. The warrant to Jacob Wolf was dated in 1766. The tract was named "Wolfsburg". [11]

1769 Jacob Wolff, Abra Wolff, Barned Wolff, and Henry Wolff were named on the tax list for Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [13] [14]

1770 A deed named the nine heirs of George Michael Wolf, deceased. Michael Wolf, Conrad Wolf, Henry Wolf, Abram Wolf, and George Geist in right of his former wife Mary and in right of his current wife Susannah were children of George Michael Wolf of Earl Twp, Lancaster County, yeoman, deceased and were parties to the deed. George Michael Wolf died owning 300 acres of land, 200 of which had been appraised and 100 was unappraised. The appraised lands were held by Michael Wolf, who conveyed the unappraised lands to Joseph, Jacob, and Bernard Wolf. "the said children are contented and the said Jacob Bernard and Joseph Wolf have entered into bonds for the payment of the childrens respective shares, Know ye that the above named Michael Conrad Henry Abraham and George Geist in consideration of the above bonds … do release … Joseph Jacob and Bernard Wolfe … excepting third part & share which has been allotted unto the widow …". 1770 Bernhard Wolf (100 acres, 40 acres improved) and Jacob Wolf (waggoner, 100 acres, 50 acres improved) were taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [16]

1771 Jacob Wolff [17] and Barnard Woolf [18] were named on the tax list for Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

1772 Jacob Wolff, Abraham Wolf, and Barnard Woolf were named on the tax list for Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Henry was not listed. [19]

1773 Jacob Woolff, Abraham Woolf, and Barnard Woolf were named on the tax list for Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [20]

1774 Jacob Wolf and wife Christina of Earl Twp sold land to Bernard Wolf. Jacob had received a patent for the land on May 7, 1767 [Patent AA8-278]. The land was adjacent to lands of several people, including Bernard Wolf. [21]

1773 Abraham Wolf and Barnet Wolf were taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [22] [23] [24]

1776 Elisabeth, daughter of Joseph Wolff and Margaretha was born on April 30. She was baptized on June 15, 1777 with sponsors Bernhard Wolff and wife Elisabeth at Bethany Reformed Church, Cocalico Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [25]

1777 Abraham Wolf and Barnard Wolf (100 acres) were taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [26] [27]

1778 Abraham Wolf and Barnard Wolf were listed for the Continental tax in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [28] [29]

1779 Barned Wolf was taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [30] [31] He was taxed for 150 acres. [32]

1780 Bernard Wolf was taxed in Earle Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [33] [34] [35] Abraham Wolf was listed as an inmate. [36] [37] [38]

1781 Bernard Wolf was taxed in Earle Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [39] Abraham Wolf was listed as an inmate. [40]

1782 Jacob Kinzer of Earl Twp, Lancaster County wrote his will, dated May 28, and named daughter Ursula, wife of Bernard Wolf. [41]

1785 Bernard Wolf and wife Ursula of Earl Twp, Lancaster County, sold two tracts of land to George Martin. One tract was on Conestoga Creek and was adjacent to land of George Yound and Michael McCleary. The other was adjacent to lands of John Bowman, Bernard Wolf, and George Rein. Bernard had purchased the tracts from Jacob Wolf and wife Christina in 1774. Another tract was described by Patent AA8-280. Deed dated September 6. [42]

1785 Bernard Wolf was taxed in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. [43] [44]

1786 Bernard Wolf was listed on the septennial census in 1786 in Earl Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. [45]

1787 Bernard Wolf was taxed as an inmate in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. [46] [47] [48] [49]

1791 John was listed but Bernard and Michael were marked off of the inmate list in Earl Twp, Lancaster County. [50]

Research Notes:

The notes above are for Bernard Wolf of Earl Twp, Lancaster County, whom we suspect was a son of George Michael Wolf.

Bernhard Wolf [51] of Lancaster Borough, spouse of Anna Charlotte Bieri, lived nearby during an overlapping period of time. Documents suggest that Bernard Wolf of Lancaster Borough and Bernard Wolf of Earl Twp, son of George Michael Wolf, were two different people. Bernard Wolf, son of George Michael Wolf was a minor over age 14 when guardians were appointed for the children of George Michael in 1756, suggesting that he was born between 1735 and 1742. Bernard Wolf of Earl Twp named Ursula as his wife in a deed dated 1785. Bernard Wolf of Lancaster Borough died at age 60 in 1792 suggesting that he was born in 1732. Bernard Wolf of Lancaster Borough was married to Anna Catharine and had children born as early as 1756. Tax lists for Earl Twp and Lancaster Borough list Bernard simultaneously in both places in overlapping years. We seek further documentation to identify the parents of Bernard Wolf (saddler) of Lancaster Borough.
