1833 Morning Hinson named Brooks Hinson (born c 1798) and Winifred Hailey (born c 1804) as her children.

1840 Brooks Hinson lived in Anson County, North Carolina in a household with free white males: 2 (under 5) and 1 (15 thru 19), [the entry for Brooks was not recorded]; and free white females: 2 (5 thru 9), 2 (10 thru 14), 1 (15 thru 19), and 1 (40 thru 49); and 16 slaves. [4]


1850 Brooks Hinson and Biddy (Obedience?) Liles were married in North Carolina. Also, Eli Liles and Mary Hinson, daughter of Brooks.

Married. In Anson county, Mr Brooks Hinson to Mrs Biddy Liles. Also, Mr Eli M. Liles to Miss Mary, daughter of Mr Brooks Hinson. Here is is a loving family! We judge from tho names, that the father married the mother, and the son married the daughter.

1850 Brooks Hinson (age 52, born in North Carolina) lived in Sandy Point, Anson County, North Carolina, in a household with Obedience Hinson (age 49), Thomas L C Hinson (age 15), Henry R Hinson (age 13), Eligah N Liles (age 3), and Thomas Liles (age 16). [6]

1860 Brooks Hinson (age 62, born in North Carolina) lived in Morven Twp, Anson County, North Carolina, in a household with Obedience Hinson (age 58), Thomas Hinson (age 25), Henry Hinson (age 23), and Elijah Liles (age 13). Brooks Hinson's occupation was farmer. [7]
