Ninian Cochran, born 1780, in Rutherford County, North Carolina. The name Ninian comes from a Scottish saint - St. Ninian; the first Christian apostle to Scotland, who died in 423 AD. (This helps to confirm the family's Scottish Presbyterian heritage.) Ninian Cochran's nickname was "Nanour". Ninian moved to Greenville, South Carolina prior to 1806, and married Martha Ann (maiden name unknown), born about 1785, in about 1823. Ninian and Martha had several children. The only name immediately available is that of their youngest daughter- Lyana, born about 1824. Ninian later moved to Gwinnett County, Georgia, sometime before 1850, and is listed on the Gwinnett County Census in 1850, along with his wife and Lyana, as being 70 years old.
