Notes for Solomon Ivins

1773 In December, Solomon Ivins Junior, perhaps this one, had a son born in Burlington County, New Jersey. [1]

1780 Solomon Ivins, of Upper Freehold, Monmouth County, was in the militia. Solomon Ivins enlisted as a private in the state troops in May. Solomon Ivins sold sheep to the Continental commissary in July. [2] [3]

1797 Sarah Ivins, Joseph Ivins, Isaac Ivins, and John Ivins, children and heirs of Solomon Ivins, deceased [Isaac and John were minors under the age of 21] petitioned the Orphans Court of Mount Holly, Burlington County, on February 14, 1797. Lands in Mansfield Twp, Burlington County were assigned to each of them. Sarah was assigned lot #1. Joseph was assigned lots #2 and #3. Isaac was assigned lots #4 and #5. John was assigned lots #6 and #7. The land was near Bustletown. Adjacent landowners included Isaac Ivins, John Ivins, Joseph Ellison, Philip Bowne, Samuel Craft, James Anderson, Joseph Scattergood, and Arledge Wright. Dated February 6, 1797. [4]

1800 Isaac Ivins and wife Mary sold lot #5 to Joseph Ivins. Isaac Ivins had inherited the land from his father, Solomon Ivins. Dated March 1. [5]

1803 Ezekiel and Joseph Ivins, of Monmouth County, Wards, Children of Solomon Ivins, of Monmouth County, deceased; being upwards of 14 years, by their petition, make choice of Nathan Middleton, of Burlington County, as their Guardian. Dated January 20. Fellowbondsmen—John Radford, of Burlington County and Thomas Thomson, of said County. [6]

Research Notes:

Solomon's wife has been reported as Catherine Scott, married on 15 Feb 1780. We have no evidence about the marriage, which is copied from other researchers.
