Notes for Winiford Hinson

1772 Charles Harrington sold land to William Pickett, both of Anson County, North Carolina. The land was in Bladen on the south side of the Great Pee Dee River on the Colson line. John Harrington had received a patent for the land in 1748. [1] Perhaps this was William Pickett, spouse of Mourning Raiford. [2]

1799 Henry William Harrington sold land on Jones Creek to Charles Hinson. [3] Perhaps this was Charles Hinson, brother of Benjamin Hinson and son of Philip Hinson. [4] Or perhaps this was Charles, uncle of Winiford Hinson.

1817 Charles Hinson purchased land on Jones Creek, Anson County, North Carolina from Rosanna Harrington, executor of Henry Harrington. Adjacent land was owned by William Diggs. [5]

1839 Winiford Hinson was named as a daughter in the will of Bartlett Hinson in Anson County, North Carolina. [6] [7] [8] [9]

1843 Nelson Harrington purchased land in Anson County, North Carolina from Benjamin Harrington (son of John and Penelope Harrington) and Penelope Herrington (widow of John Harrington). The land included the interest of Samuel Harrington. Samuel and James were other sons. [10]

1847 Nelson Harrington sold land on Jones Creek, Anson County, North Carolina to Sheperd Myers. The land was adjacent to land of Henson. [11]

1850 Nelson Harington (age 35, born in North Carolina) lived in Diamond Hill, Anson County, North Carolina, in a household with Winey Harington (22), Penelope Harington (9), John B Harington (8), Hadly Harington (5), Harriet E Harington (3), and Rosey A Harington (1). Nelson Harington was a farmer. [12]

1850 Nelson Harrington was listed as an owner of one enslaved person (male age 13) in Diamond Hill, Anson County, North Carolina. [13]

1859 The will of Nelson Harrington was proved in 1859 in Anson, North Carolina, USA. W Harrington (perhaps widow Winey) purchased many items at the estate sale. [14]

Petition for Sale of Land.

In this case, it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the defendants John B. Harrington, Hadley P. Harrington, Harriet E. Harrington, Roxy Ann Harrington, Philip Harrington, Jane Harrington, Benjamin Harrington and James H. Harrington, all reside beyond the limit of this State: It is therefore ordered by the Court, that publication be made in the North Carolina Argus for six successive weeks, notifying all defendants to be and appear at the next term of this Court to be held for the County of Anson, at the Court House in Wadesborough, on the second Monday in April next, then and there to plead, answer or demur to the plaintiff's petition, or judgment pro confesso will be rendered, and the case heard ex parte as to them.

Witness: Patrick J. Coppedge, Clerk of our said Court, at office in Wadesborough the second Monday in January, A. D. 1860, and in the 84th year of American Independence.

1865 H.P. Harrington purchased land in Lauderdale County, Mississippi from Sarah (?) Wolf. [16]

1869 Winny Harrington purchased land in Lauderdale County, Mississippi from H.P. Harrington on January 9. [17]

1869 Wina Harrington purchased land in Lauderdale County, Mississippi from H.P. Harrington on November 5. [18]

1870 Winey Harrington (age 44, born in North Carolina) lived in Township 8, Lauderdale County, Mississippi, in a household with Franklin Harrington (15), Benjamin Harrington (13), Martha Harrington (12), and James Harrington (10). Winey Harrington's occupation was keeping house. [19]

1871 H.P. Harrington and John H. Cochran purchased land in Lauderdale County, Mississippi from Hulda K. White. [20]

1875 Mrs Winnie Harrington purchased about 40 acres of land in Lauderdale County, Mississippi from the Vicksburg Meridian Railroad Company. [21]

1876 John B Harrington purchased land from E. Stephens in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. [22]

1879 J. B. Harrington purchased land from S. W. Keinard. [23]

1880 Winney Harrington (age 56, born in North Carolina, widowed) lived in Daleville, Lauderdale County, Mississippi, in a household with son James Harrington (20), son-in-law Samuel Mcneil (26), and daughter Jinney Mcneil (23). Winney Harrington's parents were both born in North Carolina. Winney Harrington was a farmer. [24]

1890 Winey Henson Harrington died on June 16 and was buried at Mount Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Obadiah, Lauderdale County, Mississippi. Winey Henson Harrington was born on September 6, 1824. [25] [26]
