1936 Joseph Harte Berry died on June 21. "Berry Joseph Harte—At Port Stanley, on June 21st, 1936. Joseph Harte Berry, 535 Main Street East, Hamilton, aged 35 years, son of Sarah Evelyn Harte and the late Theodore Parker Berry. Service in the chapel of Blachford & Wray Main Street and West Avenue, Hamilton, on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment Hamilton Cemetery." [1]
Joseph Berry died in a boating accident on Lake Erie. He normally boated on Lake Ontario. He went to the much shallower Lake Erie in early spring. A storm apparently came up. A younger boating partner must have died first and his body was lashed on board. Joe must have died later. Both apparently died from exposure. Joseph was an experienced boater.
