1434 On May 1, Roger North, of Bobynhull, was named on the list of Derbyshire men to take "an oath not to maintain peace breakers persuant to an Act of the last Parliament." [1]

1440 [19 Henry VI] on 19 December, Roger North was on the jury of Baslow Court in Derbyshire. [2]

1442 On 12 October, "Roger North of Bobenell, Derbyshire, 'ledmelter', alias Roger Boker of Bobenell, for not appearing before the justices of the Bench to answer William Lucas touching a plea that he render chattels to the value of 5l." [3]

1480 [20 Ed IV] on May 31 [Festo S Petronille], John Revell and Roger North [perhaps a son of this Roger North] were named as owing suit [did not appear in court] for Frank Pledge [a responsibility assumed by males when they reach age 12]. [4]

1484/85 On 13 January, Bargain and sale. "By Richard Wylde of Worsop, Nottingham, gentleman, to Robert Lytton of London, gentleman, of a messuage etc called Frogot in Baslow, Derby, late of Roger North. Seal." [5]

1486-1493 or 1504-1515 "Roger North v. Richard Waryner: Detention of deeds relating to land in Waltam." [6]

1222. Grant from Robert de Sulby to Roger Northe of Dobenehull and Dyonisia his wife, of a rent of (is. from a tenement at Ryley in Eyum. Witn. Thomas de Wombewelle, John de Eyum, John de Stafford, etc. Dat. T. a. Easter [3 Apr.], 4-5 Edw. III. [1^60]. (Woll vii. 43.) [7]

c1320 [13 Ed II] Roger North was a tenant of Derbyshire. "Roger North for j mess. & j bovate of land vjs [6 shillings]. He holds by suit of court & mill duty & by foreign service". "Of the same Roger for the liberty of having quit claim of lord Richard son of lord William de Vernon ijd [two penneys]". [8]

1307-1327 [Temp Ed II] "Roger North did fealty & holds j mess. & j bovate of land by the service vs per ann., suit of court and of mill". "Roger North exhibited a charter made by Richard son of William de Vernon holding by the service of vd. one messuage & a bovate of land for only, foreign service, and multure to the sixteenth grain: and he has Warranty. The said Roger North exhibited a Quit claim of William de Vernon made to Roger Blund of all kinds of services (the services of natives) and made him free—paying thence yearly to himself & his heirs one penny for ever." 1354 [28 Edw III] 28 October Roger North was named in the Baslow Court. [10]

1355 "Roger North did fealty, and acknowledged himself to hold a mess. & a hovate by homage & fealty, and for the service of iiijs vjd; and one mes-. & a bovate of land by fealty & by the service of providing a pair of shoes of iijd; and ij acres of land, & iij parcels of meadow at will, by the service of iijs viijd." 1356 "Presented that Giles son of John, and Roger North cut down the lord's wood without licence." [12]

1356 "Robert de Hethcote gave to the lord for the marriage and wardship of Cecily daughter & heir of William de Calvour until the full age of the said Cecily, xiijs iiijd by pledge of Roger North paying the same at Pentecost next." [13]

1359 "Numerous others were fined for a similar offence, and charged ij'' for each brewing or delinquency, but the wife of Roger North was forgiven." "Ralph Leche to repair his house under penalty of xl'd. Surety Rog. North." [14]

1362/62 On 2 March, "Agnes dau. of Roger surrendered i mess. & a moiety of bovate and j acre of the other part of the same bovate, upon which John of Crynne servant of Rog. North came & took it up at the will of the lord paying vjs iiijd yearly, and a penny called Bonepenny as ancient rent. Ingress fine ijd, Roger North being pledge." [15]

1364 "Ralph le Leche surrendered into the hands of the lord part of a moiety of a bovate of native-land formerly William Gekyn's; whereupon John of Hervynne took up of the lord the aforesaid part of the moiety of the bovate of land, holding the 'native-land' at the will of the lord, with the rest of the said bovate. He paid iiijs for his fine. Roger North and Stephen Cuydy being his pledges." [16]

1368 "Roger North, Thom. de Womwell [Wombwell], Philip Chaplain, Will. Leche, Steph. Cuydy, broke the attachment of the bailiff at Tythebern. (See 40, Ed. III., ante)" [17]

1369 "Release from Robert fil. Rogeri Northe and Agnes his wife to John de Stafford of Eyom, of a rent of ds. in Eyom. Dat. S. a. Exalt, of H. Cross [14 Sept.], 43 Edw. III. [1369]. (Woll. vii. 41.)" [19]

Late Edw. III, Roger North was a witness: "Conveyance from Nicholas Coterell and Roger de Gaddesby to Laurence de Lynford and Alice his wife, of all the lands which they have of the feoffment of the said Laurence in Monyasch, Chelmorden, Hassop, Caluoure, and Roulisley; with the reversion of the lands which Margery, widow of William de Lynford, holds in dower, which reversion they also have of the feoffment of the said Laurence. Witn. James Coterell, John Foleiambe, Roger North, Robert de Hethecote, etc. Late Edw. III. Copy. (Bowles.)" [20]

1420-1478 Sir Thomas North, knight, was born and died in Walkeringham, Nottingham, England. Thomas was the only son of Robert North, born about 1390 in Kirtling, Cambridge, England and died 10 Oct 1471 in Walkeringham, Nottingham.
