Notes for Robert Sanders

1762 On 27 October, deed from Nicholas Gassoway to Robert Sanders Gent. For 228 pounds sterling money of Great Britain a tract of land previously surveyed for Thomas Howell called and known as the name of Howell lying on the West side of Chesapeake Bay near a bay called the Three Island Bay upon a branch of the said bay called Road River containing 100 acres. Also a tract of land called Laws Chance containing 46 acres, also bounding the Road River. [1]

1762 On 27 October, deed from Thomas Gassoway Gent. to Robert Sanders Gent. a tract of land called Linthicums Lott on the West River containing 70 acres and 14 acres part of the tract called Hedge Park. For and in consideration of the yearly rents and covenants during the term of the natural life of Thomas Rutland Sr. upon an article of agreement with Francis Linthicum dated 1729. Robert has free access on the land until either Rutland or Linthicum passes. [2]

1764 On May 12, Indenture by Robert Saunders of Ann Arundell County to John and Elizabeth Howard of Baltimore County, whereas James Saunders grandfather of the aforesaid Robert Saunders was in his life time seized in fee simple of a tract of land lying in Baltimore County called James' Forrest containing 500 acres being part of 1500 acres called Expectation granted to one Thomas Lytfoot who sold the said 500 acres to James Saunders, who devised 1 moiety by his last will and testament to his son Robert Saunders who gave the 1 said moiety by deed to his son Robert Saunders the party first mentioned in this instrument of writing, and the other moiety he devised in his said will to his son James Saunders who devised it to his wife Jane Saunders and by her devision to her brother Thomas Gassaway who devised it by his will to the aforesaid Elizabeth Howard wife to John Howard. 1775 The will of Robert Sanders, of Anne Arundel County, was dated 16 April 1775; probate 2 May 1775 [4]:

To sister Elizabeth Sanders, extx., during life, 2 tracts. Lewis' Chance" and Howell, lying in South River Neck after her death to nephew William Sanders, he to pay £100 to nephew Robert Sanders; if he dies to the eldest son of said Robert, if no children of said Robert, ½ of said sum to Daniel Bowly and other half to Robert Hughes, son of Daniel Hughes.
To nieces Elizabeth Bowly, Negro Jenny.
To Daniel Bowly, Negro Boy, son of Jenny.
To Nancy Hughes, dau. of David Hughes, Negro Jenny, dau. of Jenny.
To sister Elizabeth Sanders, all my negroes, stock, personal estate and debt due me from sale of my part of tract "James Forrest in Baltimore County.
To bro. James Sanders, £8 during life.
