1844 Mr Samuel Weigel and Herriett Cline were married on April 21 in Holy Trinity Lutheran, Lutheran church, York Springs Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [1]

1850 Samuel Weigle (age 28) lived in Tyrone Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Living with his wife Harriet and son Joseph (age 1) and parents John and Margaret. Although the ages do not agree exactly with the birthdates listed here, this is a possible match for father John and his son Samuel. [2]

185? Weigle is shown on a landowners map of Adams County near Griner and J. Fissel. The 1850 census listed Jonas Fistle and George Griner near Samuel Weigle, perhaps the same households. [3]

1857 George Wiegle, son of Sam and Harriet Weigle, was born on June 4. He was baptized on July 25, 1858 at Upper Bermudian Lutheran church, York Springs, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [4]

1860 Samuel Weigle (age 38), farmer, lived in South Middleton, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, at post office Carlisle, with Harriett Weigle (age 34), Andrew Weigle (age 8), Leah Weigle (age 6), Ureah Weigle (age 4), George Weigle (age 3), Charles Weigle (age 6/12), and Rachel Dilman (age 37). [5]

1864 Wife Harriett Weigle was buried on October 20, at Upper Bermudian Lutheran Church Cemetery (Ground Oaks), Huntington Township, Adams County, Pennsylvania. [6] Her gravestone date was transcribed as 10-29-1861 [sic] (age 38y 8m 0d). [7] Her death was recorded on 20 Oct 1864 at Holy Trinity Lutheran in York Springs, Adams, Pennsylvania. [8]

1870 Saml Weigle (age 50, born in Pennsylvania) lived in South Middleton, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, at post office Boiling Springs, with Rebecca Weigle (age 28), Andrew Weigle (age 18), Leah Weigle (age 17), Uriah Weigle (age 15), George Weigle (age 13), Charles Weigle (age 11), Harvey Weigle (age 9), Eva Weigle (age 7), Wm Weigle (age 3), Arthur Weigle (age 2), and Foster Weigle (age 1/12). Their estate was valued at $6000+$2000. [9]

1877 Samuel Weigle, perhaps this one, was treasurer in Tyrone Twp, Adams County. [10]

1877 Samuel Weigle carpenter and Mrs S Weigle dressmaker were listed in the 1877-78 Carl's Directory for Harrisburg, Pennsylvania living 1609 N 4th St. [11]

1880 Samuel Weigel (age 61, born in Pennsylvania), married, self (head), Farmer, lived in South Middleton, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania (father born in Pennsylvania and mother born in Pennsylvania) with Rebecca Weigel (age 40), Eve Weigel (age 16), William Weigel (age 13), Arthur Weigel (age 12), Foster Weigel (age 10), Margaret Weigel (age 8), Oliver Weigel (age 7), Ellenora Weigel (age 5), Enoch Weigel (age 4), Henry Weigel (age 3), and Emma Weigel (age 1). [12]

1887 "A dispatch from Carlisle on Thursday said: This morning constable McGonigal, of Mt Holly, again went to the residence of Samuel Weigle to arrest him and his son William. Both men had been arrested for complicity in the post-office robberies at Mt Holly, Hunter's Run, and other places, but had been discharged for want of sufficient evidence to hold them. … he proceeded to the Weigle homestead. Both the father and son were cradling grain inthe field an McGonigal approached them alone, thinking that they might come along peacably. They resisted arrest and attacked the constable with their cradles, cuttin ghim on the head and hands. Upon being pressed hard the constable fired at his assailants. Two bullets struck the father … the shooting scared the young man to the hills but the father ran to the house and going to the second story procured an old rifle and defied the officer and his assistants. Weigle's wife … delivered her husband to the officer. … Young Weigle is still at large and is regarded as a bad man." [13]

1900 Samuel Weigle, listed as father, born June 1818 and married 33 years prior lived in Huntington Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania in the household of Leah Group (mother of 4 children) born Nov 1853. Wife Rebecca (mother of 12 children, all living) lived in Pennsboro, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania with 3 sons. [14] [15]

1904 Samuel Weigle, married, died of old age on September 17, at age 87, in Huntington Twp, Adams County, Pennsylvania. Samuel Weigle was born in Adams County, Pennsylvania. Samuel Weigle was a Gentleman. He was buried on September 19 at Ground Oak Cemetery. [16] [17] [18] [19]

1904 Samuel's obituary reported "Samuel Weigle Sr. died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leah Group, at Idaville, on Saturday, the 17th inst., aged 87 years, 6 months, and 10 days. Deceased spent nearly his entire life in Huntington township and raised a large family, being twice married. The funeral was held last Monday, with interment in Upper Bermudian grave yard, Rev. Wm Leisher conducting the services." [20] [21]

1904 Obituary: "Samuel Weigle of Idaville, died on Saturday, the 17th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leah Group, at the great age of 87 years, 3 months, and 10 days. Mr. Weigle was born near Idaville and lived in that neighborhood until middle life. He then removed to Cumberland county and lived in neighborhood of Craighead's station, but returned to his home property in this county. Mr. Weigle was twice married and was the father of nineteen children, seven by the first wife and twelve by the second wife. His health remained good in his advanced years until November of last year when it began to fail and since then he had not been out of the house. The funeral took place on Monday of last week, services being conducted by Rev. Wm. Lesher with interment in the Upper Bermudian Lutheran graveyard." [22]

1910 Rebecca Weigle (age 69, born in Virginia), widowed, mother, lived in West Pennsboro, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania (father born in Pennsylvania) with Henry Weigle (age 32). She had had 12 children, 11 of them still living. [23]

1913 Rebecca Weigle was buried on December 2, at the Old Carlisle graveyard, Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. [24]

1924 Herman Weigle, age 41, and Mrs Mae G Donnelly, age 41, were married on November 27 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Herman Weigle was a child of Samuel Weigle and Rebecca Brown. Mrs Mae G Donnelly was a child of George Rank and Mary Aulthouse. [25]

1939 Arthur Weigle died on January 21, at age 70, in Middlesex Twp, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was born on October 23, 1868, in Pennsylvania, son of Samuel Weigle and Rebecca Brown. [26]

1950 Eva Weigle Day, daughter of Samuel Weigle and Harriet Cline, died on June 25, 1950, at age 86, in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Eva Weigle Day was born on November 17, 1863, in Pennsylvania. [27]

1951 William Samuel Weigle, widow, died on August 2, at age 88, in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was born on April 28, 1863, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, son of Samuel Weigle and Rebecca Brown. [28]

1964 Emma Josephine Reiber, daughter of Samuel Weigle and Rebecca Brown, spouse of James D. Reiber, died on December 24, 1964, at age 86, in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Emma Josephine Reiber was born on April 5, 1878, in Adams County, Pennsylvania. [29]
