Elizabeth Pickett married William Whitehead (Whitted) and had a son Hiram Whitehead.

1794 The will of William Whitted was produced and proved on March 10 in Fairfield, South Carolina. The will named wife Elizabeth, son Hiram, friends Nezerus, John, and Gibson Whitted, and enslaved persons Bob and Jenny. [3] [4] [5] [6]

William Whitehead died and his widow Elizabeth Pickett remarried Samuel Mobley. [7]

1800 Samuel Mobley lived in Fairfield County, South Carolina in a household with Males: 1 (age Under 10), and 1 (age 16 thru 25); Females: 1 (age Under 10), and 1 (age 16 thru 25); Slaves: 3. Nearby listings included Butler, Willingham, Doule, Bryant. Micajah Pickett Sr and George Beasley were on the prior (top of?) page. [8]

1810 Samuel Moberly lived in Fairfield County, South Carolina in a household with Males: 1 (age Under 10), 2 (age 10 thru 15), and 1 (age 26 thru 44); Females: 1 (age 10 thru 15), and 1 (age 26 thru 44); Slaves: 12. 1829 Son Hiram Whitted died. The account of his estate was cited in a newspaper notice of the Greenville, South Carolina Equity court case involving Susanna Johns and Kizanna Hinson. [11]

1836 Elizabeth Pickett Mobley died on September 12 and was buried at Old Fellowship Presbyterian Cemetery, Woodward, Fairfield County, South Carolina. Elizabeth Pickett Mobley was born on September 13, 1774. [14] [15]

1840 Samuel Melley lived in Fairfield County, South Carolina in a household with Males: 1 (age 15 thru 19), 1 (age 30 thru 39), and 1 (age 60 thru 69); Slaves: 61. [16]

1854 The will of Samuel Mobley of Fairfield District, dated July 13, named daughter Mary Robinson, grand-son William B Woodward, grand-son Edward Robinson, son Edward P Mobley, grand-son Moses H Mobley (son of Edward), son James B Mobley deceased, grand-children Narion Mobly, James B, Edward P, Zebulon, William B.W., Theodore, James P, Edward P (all children of James B), and nephew Jacob Feaster. 1854 Samuel Mobley Jr. died at age 83 on August 16 and was buried at Old Fellowship Presbyterian Cemetery, Woodward, Fairfield County, South Carolina. Samuel Mobley Jr. was born in 1771. [18] [19] [20]

Notes for son Hiram Whitehead:

1794 Hiram Whitted was named as a son in the will of William Whitted of Fairfield County, South Carolina. [21]

Hiram Whitted moved from Fairfield District of SC to the immediate vicinity of Hodges/Merritts/Hightowers sometime prior to 1820 census.

1816 Hiram Whitted purchased 206 acres of land from Thomas Merritt, both of Greenville District, South Carolina. The land was on both sides of the north fork of Saluda River adjacent to lands of Williamson, Stringer, and Adams by Cedar Mountain. [22]

1817 Hiram Whitted was appointed justice of the peace on March 25 by the General Assembly of the State of South-Carolina. [23]

RESOLVED, That Hiram Whitted be appointed Justice of the Peace, vice John Hodges, who refuses to qualify. John H. Harrison, vice Samuel Morrow, removed. Allin Marshal, re-appointed. Peter Edwards, Justice of the Quorum, vice Thomas Edwards, resigned; for Greenville district.

1820 Hiram Whitted lived in Greenville, South Carolina in a household with free white males: 1 (26 thru 44) and 1 (45 and over); and free white females: 1 (26 thru 44) and 1 (45 and over); and 9 slaves. [24]

1822 Hiram Whitted was named among commissioners Of free schools for Greenville District on December 5. [25]

1823 The will of Micajah Pickett named Hiram Whitted as an orphaned son of daughter Elizabeth Mobley. [26]

Item fifth I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Mobley a negro man Bob of whom she has had in possession since he was a boy; in lieu of giving her any more I give and bequeath to her orphan son Hiram Whitted and his heirs forever a negro boy named Rock.

1824 Hiram Whitted was was named on a committee report. "Committee On Internal Improvement, Report, Resolution, And Supporting Papers On The Report Of The Upper Board Of Commissioners Of Roads For Greenville District, Concerning The Disrepair Of The Saluda Mountain Road Due To Mismanagement By John Hodges And Hiram Whitted Who Were Given A Lease On The Road. (4 Pages) Date: 12/15/1824" (South Carolina Archives ID: Series: S165005 Year: 1824 Item: 00220 Page: 000)

1828 Hiram was named as a postmaster. "Whittedsville, Buncombe Co, NC, Hiram Whitted, distance from Washington DC 503 miles, distance from State Capital 266 miles." [27]

1829 Susan Whitted, executrix of Hiram Whitted of Buncombe County, North Carolina, sold land to Wm Fuller of Greenville, South Carolina by deed dated March 11. The tract was on both sides of Middle Fork of Fall Creek of the north fork of Saludia River. Another tract was "the whole of the Lankford tract which lands was conveyed from William Justice to Hiram Whitted". [28]

1829 Died in Buncombe Co., N. C., on the 19th ultimo, Hiram Whitted, Esq. (Ibid.)(Feb 19, 1829) [30]

1829 A death notice for Hiram Whitted was published on Saturday, April 4, 1829 in the Visitor and telegraph. "Died- In Buncombe County, NC on March 19, Hiram Whitted. (p. 3, c. 5)" [31]

Researchers have named Susannah Williamson as the spouse of Hiram Whitted. We seek documentation for this possible relationship.

There were at least two persons named Samuel Mobley living in Fairfield during this era. It is not clear which one was married to Elizabeth Pickett in some of the documents cited.
