1853 Friederike Paulina Klink, daughter of Christian Klink, citizen and farmer, and Anna Margaretha born Fredel, was born on July 16 in Leutenbach and baptized on July 17. Her sponsons were Jakob Pfleiderer farmer from Hertmannsweiler and his wife Anna Maria born Fredel. [1]

1854 Christian Klink, Bürger und Bauer (citizen and farmer) in Leutenbach, 1854 nach Amerika ausgewandert (emigrated to America in 1854). [2]

1854 Friederike Paulina "was a very sick baby, the captain wanted to throw her overboard as they were en route to America." [3]

1871 In January, George Schaeffer (age 27) lived in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri in the household of Chas. Burri. George was born in France and was a salesman. [4]

1880 On June 1, George Schaeffer (age 38) and Pauline (age 26) lived in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri with children Anna (age 6), Henry (age 5), Albert (age 2), and Nellie (age 10/12). George was a retail grocer. He and his father were born in France. Pauline and her father were born in Germany. The part of the census page that would tell where their mothers were born is torn away. 1881 A biographical sketch of George Schaeffer was published. "George F. Schaeffer, dealer in general merchandise, was born March 27, 1842, in Alcis, near Strausburg, Germany, which at that time belonged to France. His father, Jacob, emigrated with his family to Canada, when George was eleven years of age, residing there until 1865, when he came to the United States, residing in Pennsylvania. In the autumn he came to St. Joseph. For two years was connected with Charles Burri. In the autumn of 1871, he embarked in trade, which has rapidly and solidly increased, his store being commodious and the stock complete in all its appointments. Was married in 1871, to Miss Pauline Klink, of Buchanan County. They have four children---Henry, Annie, Albert, and Nellie." [6]
