Toronto General Hospital Graduating Exercises. The theatre of the General Hospital was converted to other than painful operations yesterday afternoon when Directors and Medical Board, in frock coats and happy speeches … gave fraternal advice to the class of graduating nurses. Thirty-eight pretty, girlish faces, flushed by excitement, outlined the north oval of the famous old room. The white caps, showing a narrow black band, were adjusted with infinite care, and the uniforms with stiffly starched aprons, collars and cuffs, were effectively shown against the white walls. … From the 773 applications received from young women who desired to enter the school, there were fifty four (54) admitted to the three months' probation, and from those the number finally selected was twenty-eight (28). … The granting of the certificates to this year's class brings the total number of certificates granted up to 560. … The scholarships and prizes … For general proficiency scholarship, Miss Jean E. Brown and Miss Marion B. Miles were equal. … The graduates were: … Marian E. Miles, La Grange, Ill. …

1911 Marion E Miles and Charles Belfry Kelly were married on Wednesday July 12 [9] at the family home at 106 N. Madison in La Grange, Cook County, Illinois. The minister was Dr. Foster.

Marion's sister Ella "Nell" Miles described Marion's wedding and preparations in letters to her fiancé Edwin Schafer.

We got Grandmother's wedding veil at Aunt Annie's---it is a perfect beauty---they had taken it down to Field's to be cleaned & they were in raptures over it there in the old lace dept. My great grandmother made it when she was a convent girl in France. Marion is going to carry a lovely point lace handkerchief too---which Mama carried when she was married. [Letter from Nell Miles to Edwin Schafer, 8 July 1911]

The wedding was an awfully pretty one and Marion looked perfectly lovely. She looked so small and angelic---her dress is simply beautiful and her veil added all the charm one could wish for. It is a perfect beauty. Everyone stood in the two front rooms and first Peggy came down the stairs as Aunt Edith played the wedding march, then Marion and Marshall and Belf and Fred were already standing beside the minister and met them there---the service was nice and everything went off beautifully afterward---all the congratulations and refreshments. There were about thirty here, perhaps a few more. ... If our wedding is as nice as Marion's was I'll certainly be happy. She had the swellest bouquet---white sweet peas and lillies of the valley with all sorts of ribbon trailers. Mama and Mrs. Kelly both carried lavender sweet peas and Peg's were pink. Belf also got Edith a big bunch of long stemmed pink roses. [Letter from Nell Miles to Edwin Schafer, 13 July 1911]
