Research Notes:

We are following this family because they might be related to Nancy Stoner, wife of John Rivir. Also, son Elias married Anna Reed, perhaps the daughter of Abraham Reed.

1810 Julia Ann was born to William and Ruth Martha Sperow. [1]. Note: Some researchers have identified Joseph's wife as Julia Ann Swigert, rather than as Sperow.

1840 Joseph Stone lived in Manheim Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 2 (5 thru 9) and 1 (30 thru 39); and females: 2 (under 5), 1 (10 thru 14), and 1 (20 thru 29). [2]

1850 Joseph Stoner (age 45, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Warwick Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, in a household with Julian Stoner (age 41), Elias Stoner (age 0), and Maryann Stoner (age 8). [3]

1860 Joseph Stoner (age 54) and Julianna (age 49) and son Elias (age 10) lived in Liberty Twp, Seneca County, Ohio. Next door were John (age 62) and Elizabeth (age 59) Baughman and David (age 26) and Lucinda (age 26) Baughman (relationship unknown). [4]

1870 Joseph Stoner (age 64, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Green Twp, Noble County, Indiana, in a household with Juliann Stoner (age 59), and Elias Stoner (age 20). Joseph Stoner's occupation was farmer. [5]

1874 Joseph Stoner owned land in Green Twp in Noble County, Indiana. [6]

1875 Elias Stoner, son of Joseph and Julian Stoner, married Anna E Reed.

1880 Joseph (74) and Julia (60) Stoner lived in Green Twp, Noble County, Indiana. Elias (30) and Anna (24) lived next door with sister-in-law Ida Reed (17). Giddeon Baughman (age 64) and Margret (age 63, born in Ohio) also lived in Green Twp, Noble County, Indiana next door to Eli Rivir. [7]

1883 Joseph Stoner died at age 77 years and 7 months on 3-6-1883. [8]

1883 The probate records for Joseph Stoner Joseph: died 3-6-1883. Fd: 6-18-1883. Sp: Julia Ann. Ch: Elias S, Henry, William, Susan, Harriet Stoner, Elizabeth Moyer, Anna Brown, Mary Arenz. [9]

1883 Joseph and Julia Stoner are buried at Sweet Cemetery, Albion, Noble County, Indiana, USA. [10]

1901 Julia Stoner's obituary states: "Stoner Julia, 92, died at the county infirmary last Tuesday. She was the mother of Elias Stoner of Kendallville. Burial, Sweet Cemetery. Democrat 11-7-1901". [11]

1901 Julia Stoner died at age 91 years, 10 months, and 1 day on 10-30-1901 [12]

1901 The probate records for Stoner Julia A: died 10-31-1901. Fd: 11-23-1901. Ch: Elias Stoner. [13]
