1815 Michael was named as a son in the will of Abraham Greenawalt of Manor Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, dated October 6, 1808. The children may have been named in birth order. [1] [Photocopy, Extract of Abraham Greenawalt's will.]

... and I order that all my children shall have equal share out of my estate to wit Abraham Greenawald, Jacob Greenawald, Elizabeth the wife of George Albert, Christopher Greenawald, Susanna the wife of Henry Shoff, Christian Greenawald, Michael Greenawald, John Greenawald, Henry Greenawald, and Peter Greenawald each of them an equal share.

1820 Michael Gruiaawlt [difficult to read] lived in East Hempfield Twp, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with males: 1 (26 thru 44); and females: 3 (under 10) and 1 (26 thru 44). [2] [3]

1830 Michael Greenawalt lived in Manor, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in a household with Males: 1 (age 5 thru 9), and 1 (age 40 thru 49); Females: 1 (age Under 5), and 1 (age 20 thru 29). [4]

1833 On 21 November, Michael Greenawalt purchased land from Peter Imhofe in Milton Twp, Richland/Ashland County, Ohio. [5]

1837-38. Michael Greenawalt appeared on the tax lists for Milton Twp, Richland County, Ohio.

1840 Michael Granawalt lived in Milton, Richland County, Ohio in a household with Males: 1 (age Under 5), and 1 (age 50 thru 59); Females: 1 (age Under 5), 2 (age 5 thru 9), and 1 (age 40 thru 49). Brother-in-law George Albert and brother Peter Greenawalt lived nearby. [6]

1850 Michael Greenawalt (age 64, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Weller, Richland County, Ohio with Mary Greenawalt (age 50, born in Germany), Martha Greenawalt (age 20, born in Pennsylvania), Abraham Greenawalt (age 10, born in Ohio), and Henry Greenawalt (age 6, born in Ohio). [7]

1852 Catharine Greenwalt and Calvin P. Stough were married on September 20, 1852, in Richland County, Ohio. [8]

1860 Mary Greenwalt (age 56, born in Sweden) lived in Weller, Richland County, Ohio, at post office Olivesburg, with Martha Greenwalt (age 30), Abraham Greenwalt (age 19), Henry Greenwalt (age 15), and James McLaughlin (age 2). [9]

1861 Nancy McLaughlin and Jacob Hollebaugh were married on November 21 in Richland County, Ohio. [10]

1870 Martha Greenewalt (age 39, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Weller Twp, Richland County, Ohio, in a household with Abrian [Abraham?] Greenewalt (age 29). [11]

1870 Martha Greenawalt and Harrison Whitman were married on August 11 in Richland County, Ohio. [12]

1871 Jacob Crabbs, B Burns, and A. D. Mercer posted bond for the estate of Michael Greenawalt, late of Richland County, Ohio. [13]

1872 Land was partitioned in Richland County, Ohio for Michael Greenawalt, deceased. Administrator Jacob Crabbs. Heirs at law: Jacob Greenawalt (Lancaster Co., Pa.), Susanah Greenawalt (Lancaster Co., Pa.), Elizabeth M ? (Lancaster Co., Pa.), Mary Baker (Seneca Co., O.), Martha Whiteman (Richland Co., O.), Abraham Greenawalt (Ashland Co., O.), Catherine Stow (Williams Co., O.), Nancy Hollibaugh (Shelby Co., O.), Henry Greenawalt (Ashland Co., O.). Petition to sell real estate 21 September, 1871. Pt. SE, S8 T 24 R 17 9.2 A. Sold 1/8/1872. [14]

1870 Jacob Hollenbaugh (age 43, born in Pennsylvania) lived in Shelby Twp, Richland County, Ohio, in a household with Nancy Hollenbaugh (age 33), Emma Hollenbaugh (age 18), Charles Hollenbaugh (age 7), Mary A Hollenbaugh (age 4), and Willie A Hollenbaugh (age 2). Jacob Hollenbaugh's occupation was book and shoemaker. [15]

1873 The final settlement of the estate of Michael Greenawalt made distributions to 10 heirs: Jacob Greenawalt, Susannah Greenawalt, Elizabeth Greenawalt, ? Greenawalt, Mary Baker, E Martha Whiteman, Abraham Greenawalt, Catharina Stowe, Nancy Hollobaugh, and Henry Greenawalt. [16] [17]

1880 Nancy Hollabaugh (age 44, born in Ohio, married), wife, lived in Fostoria, Jackson Twp, Seneca County, Ohio, in a household with Jacob Hollabaugh (age 53), Charles Hollabaugh (age 18), Mary Hollabaugh (age 15), Willie Hollabaugh (age 12), and John Hollabaugh (age 9). Nancy Hollabaugh's father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother was born in Germany. Jacob Hollabaugh's occupation was shoemaker. [18]

1896 The will of daughter Martha Whiteman named several of her relatives. [19]

1900 Nancy Holenbauch (born in Ohio in Jul 1836, married), wife, lived in Fostoria Ward 3, Seneca County, Ohio, in a household with Jacob Holenbauch (age 73), Mary A Swartout (age 34), and Eddie B Swartout (age 12). Nancy Holenbauch's father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother was born in Germany. Nancy Holenbauch had had 6 children, 6 still living. [20]

1908 The will of Nancy Hollenbaugh of Fostoria, Seneca County, Ohio, was dated June 15, 1908. The will named husband Jacob, daughter Mary Swartout and son William A. Hollenbaugh. Three other children were to divide a third of her estate: Byron M. McLaughlin, Charles C Hollenbaugh, and John D. Hollenbaugh. Daughter Mary Swartout was named executor. The will was affirmed by witnesses on August 3. [21]

1908 Nancy Hollenbaugh died in July 1908 and was buried at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, Hancock County, Ohio. Nancy Hollenbaugh was born in 1836. [22]

1909 Jacob C Hollenbaugh died in January and was buried at Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, Hancock County, Ohio. Jacob C Hollenbaugh was born in 1827. [23]

Research Notes:

The will of daughter Martha Whiteman suggests that Michael Greenawalt had children by at least two wives. The inconsistent ages of the oldest female in the 1820 and 1830 censuses suggest that they might be different persons.
