1764 On 13 of month 12 [December], Sarah Taylor, daughter of John Taylor and wife of John Curtis, was born. [3] [4]
1785 John Curtis, Jr of Mansfield Township (son of John and Patience), and Sarah Taylor, of Nottingham, daughter of John and Sarah, were married at Chesterfield on 10th 3d mo. 1785. Witnesses: Rachel Curtis, John, Sarah, John, Jr., Joel, Ann and Stacy Taylor, Joseph, Isaac and Samuel DeCou, Joseph M. Lawrie, Benjamin Linton and others. [5] [6] [7] [8]
The names and birthdates and death dates of three children of John Curtis and Sarah Taylor were recorded in the Upper Springfield Quaker records. [9] [10] [11]
1785 On 10 of month 3, John Curtis Jr, son of John and Patience Curtis of Mansfield, and Sarah Taylor Jr, daughter of John and Sarah Taylor of Nottingham Twp, were married, parents consenting. [12]
1785 On 1st day, 8th month, John Curtis and wife Sarah received by certificate, Burlington Monthly Meeting. [13]
1786 On 7th of 9th mo, James Schooley and Mary Rogers were married at Chesterfield Friends' Monthly Meeting. The marriage was witnessed by John Curtis. [14]
1786 On 2nd day, 10th month, John Curtis and wife Sarah and son Tilton, were granted a certificate by Burlington Monthly Meeting to Chesterfield Meeting. [15] [16]
1787 In May, John Taylor, son of John Taylor, late of Burlington County, deceased, was ordered to appear before the Orphans' Court to answer questions about his knowledge of any codicils to the will of John Taylor. Witnessed by Joshua Wallace, Thomas Fenimore, and Israel Shreve. A complaint was made that codicils had not been properly exhibited. Joel Taylor, Sarah Taylor and Stacy Taylor, executors of the will of John Taylor, were also summoned to appear. [17]
1792 John Curtis, husband of Sarah Taylor, died on 28 of 8th month. [18] [19]
1792 On 26 September, John Curtis, of Burlington County. Intestate. Administrator: Sarah Curtis. Fellowbondsman: Joel Taylor; both of Burlington County. [20]
1792 On 25 September, the inventory was valued at £775.10.4, made by Joseph Pancoast and Joseph Satterthwaite. [21]
1793 On 13 February, 1793, at the Burlington County Orphans' Court, Sarah Curtis, filed the account of John Curtis, deceased, who had been administrator of Jonathan Curtis Senior, for the estate of John Curtis, Sr. The account items start on date 1786. [22]
1795 On 16 June, the will of Sarah Taylor, of Nottingham, named daughter, Sarah Curtis, whose share was shared with John Curtis' children (and Sarah Taylor's grand-children): Tilton and Achsah. [23]
1797 On 8 August, Sarah Curtis petitioned Richard Howell, Governor of New Jersey, that she be appointed guardian of Tilton and Achsah Curtis, children of John Curtis deceased, under age 14. [24] At the August term of the Burlington Orphans Court, Sarah Curtis was appointed guardian of Achsa Curtis and Tilton Curtis, bond posted by Thomas English [25].
1807 On May 26, Sarah Curtis, filed the account of John Curtis. Signed by Abraham Brown Jr and the surrogate Joseph Budd. The account items start on date 1792. [26]
1807 On May 26, Sarah Curtis reported an account to the Burlington County Orphans' Court for the guardianship of Tilton and Achsah Curtis. [27] [28] [29]
1809 On 12 April, Joseph Freeman Taylor, son of Daniel (deceased) and Hannah Taylor of UpperFreehold, Monmouth County, married Sarah Carslake. Witnessed by Sarah Curtis, and many others. [30]
