1772 Maria Eva Weigel, daughter of Magdalena and Peter Weigel, was born on October 30. She was baptized on November 8, 1772 at Christ Lutheran Church, York County with sponsors Simon Witmeier and wife, perhaps grand-parents of Maria Eva Weigel. [1] [2]

1791 Mary Wekel and Lewis Smith were married on October 25, in Rutherford County, North Carolina. [3] [4]

1809 Lewis Smith warranted land in Haywood County, North Carolina. "Lewis Smith enters one hundred acres of land joining adam killions and yessey tolars and Edward Hyatts lines." Dated September 29. [5]

1809 Lewis Smith warranted land in Haywood County, North Carolina. "Lewis Smith enters two hundred acres of land joining hyatts line on Hyatts branch ?" Dated September 29. [6]

1809 Lewis Smith warranted land in Haywood County, North Carolina. "Lewis Smith and Jacob Minges enters one hundred acres of land on the Ravens fork of oconolufty River including a white oak marked M on the west side of the river. " Dated September 29. [7]

1809 Lewis Smith warranted land in Haywood County, North Carolina. "Lewis Smith enters one hundred acres of land joining his own line on the North side and Martain buffs and Shade hyatts lines including the vaciant land." Dated September 29. [8]

1809 Lewis Smith warranted land in Haywood County, North Carolina. "Lewis Smith enters one hundred acres of land joining his own land on both sides of Richland Creek including part of osburns five hundred acre tract." Dated September 29. [9]

1809 Lewis Smith warranted land in Haywood County, North Carolina. "Lewis Smith enters one hundred acres of land joining his land on both sides of richland Creek including part of orsburns five hundred acre tract." Dated December 16. [10]

1810 Lewis Smith warranted land in Haywood County, North Carolina. "Lewis Smith and Martain buff enters 640 acres of land in haywood county on Scots Creek including Scots old field runing up and down both sides of sd. creek for Compliments." Dated April 6. [11] The land was adjacent to land warranted by John Wical. (Deed 155)

1840 Lewis Smith, age 77, was named in the census for North Carolina as a veteran of military service. [12]

1840 Lewis Smith Sr lived in Haywood County, North Carolina in a household with free white males: 1 (20 thru 29), 1 (70 thru 79), 1 (20 thru 29), 1 (40 thru 49), and 1 (60 thru 69); and free white females: 1 (20 thru 29), 1 (40 thru 49), and 1 (60 thru 69); and 1 slaves. [13]

1842 Lewis Smith reportedly died on January 4, traveling from Charleston, South Carolina to Haywood County, North Carolina.

1842 The inventory of the property sold on April 26 for the administration of the estate of Lewis Smith was recorded in the June term of the Haywood County, North Carolina probate court. M.W. and J.L Smith were administrators. Notes for Amos Plotts & M.W. Smith, P.W. Edwards & G.R. Smith, Jacob Smith & G.R. Smith, and others were listed. [14] [15]
